Taken the plunge into a T-56 in my '02 GT

I am going to swap my 5 speed out for a 6 speed. I am looking for all the info that i need to do this. I did a search with no results really. I will be getting a new T-56 with the 4.6L bell housing. I know i need to get the cross member and trans mount from a cobra and get the drive shaft shortened and a different yoke put on. Is there anything else really that needs to be done? Thanks in advance.....

Just get the 03/04 cobra driveshaft, its aluminum so it kills two birds with one stone. Then you get a hybrid U-joint to put the pinion centering flange from yer GT driveshaft onto yer cobra DS.

The crossmember can be modified to fit, or you can buy the 03/04 cobra unit.

Yeah, IMO D&D has crap prices. RPM transmissions is WAY better, great customer service, and Rodney is a kickass guy; he's grown from a mom and pop to a nationally recognized trans builder.

after further research it looks like the gear ratio is a 2.66...

as far as i know all take outs from both 03 and 04 are 2.66's. The viper-spec transmissions are a 2.97 first gear, just a bit steeper. I am thinking that when I do the swap I would rather have the 2.66, possibly making 1st gear useful

Yeah, all I know is racing LS1's is now possible cuz I can do a a 2nd gear 50mph roll and be in the powerband LOL

Street racing is though - so many arrests, and crashes from the stupid ricers literally crashing into each other so they don't lose, or jumping medians and crashing head onto people then pulling guns on them rofl.

If the 03-04 Cobra takeouts have a 2.66 first gear, do they also have the .50 sixth gear or the .62? Anybody know?

Yea i emailed RPM and havent heard anything after a about week. hmmm...
Was hoping to get info about what he offers but ....i guess i could call them.

I have heard that the viper spec T-56 is a smoother trans & has less problems than the other t-56's... any truth to this?

Well it is supposed to be built stronger and with some better components so.....probably. However stronger doesn't always been smoother.
