so my sis and i are goin up to Lawton, OK to visit some friends for the weekend. Mapquest says its 352 miles each way (that's 704 miles for those mathematically challenged) so its gonna be a long one, for me at least. i've never driven longer than 2 hours at a time, so this is gonna be a new experience. one of my concerns is with my 4.10s. im gonna have to cruise at like 65-70, right? i'd love to cruise at 85-90, but i dont wanna put any extra strain on the engine. i checked my oil (full), coolant (full), power steering fluid (full), and all my hoses/connections under the hood. is there anything else i should do or prepare? thanks for the help

No worries on engine strain with crusing speeds of 85 - 90, just watch out for speed traps! Oh yeah, while in Lawton, drop in the Hi Fi Shop and see Bob or ReRe for a great deal on a car stereo system . . .

Make sure your transmission fluid is full. -off subject- Are there any good dyno tuning shops in Austin? If so please tell me. If not where's the closest? Thanks

i thought just autos had tranny fluid. could be wrong tho  there are a bunch of places. Prewitt Racing, Mawell Dodge Dealership (cheapest=$45 for 3 pulls), Autostrada, ProTech, etc.

i might check it out, but after 2 subs, 2 amps, 4 new speakers, a deck, a cap, and about $1500, i think im done with my audio system. thanks tho

yeah, cuz ya know the new dodge Srt-4 is a BEAST  :nonono: :rlaugh:

ok, my tire psi is good since i just got new tires 3 weeks ago. i cant really think of anything else tho. another thing that sux is im gonna have to let my sister bring food and beverages into the car or else we'll be stopping every 30 min!! i never let anyone eat or drink in my car, its rule #1 and now its gonna be broken!!! :bang: :barf: :uzi: :chair:

Sorry didn't see you got a stickshift, I got an auto and it just popped in my head. My bad. Too bad our local Dodge dealership doesn't have a dyno. Maxwell Dodge? Who would've known. Their commercial always comes on "Maxwell's got the trucks, man, Maxwells got the trucks". Thanks alot.

"Maxwell's got the trucks, man, Maxwells got the trucks". lol, i hate that commercial!! yeah, they're on 620 just east of 183

i was thinkin maybe a cushy butt/back pillow since the stang seats are less than plush :nonono:

oh ya....back pillow is a must. i use one just driving down to San Antonio when i go back to school, or if i come home for the weekend. Mustang GT seats =:nonono:

Appreciate it, I hate that commercial, too. Good idea about the pillows. You'll probably need some legroom. It sure does get cramped. How to get more legroom? I don't know. Put it on cruise control and stick them out the window, I guess.

That car will just be getting warmed up after two hours. No worries. I drive that much everday just for work and sometimes way more. Today, it was 2.5 hours there and 2.5 hours back (not in the stang, though, but it really does not matter).

If you are a young driver and not used to these hauls, watch the fatigue. If you get tired, pull over. It can catch up on you fast.

Have fun and let us know how you do.

ya watch on the fatigue, i barely get past LA, around 100 miles from santa barbara, and i need to get out and walk and get something to drink. i might be moving to texas, mckinney in particular and need to know if 98 gt's are easy to find there.
