I talked with him for a bit. I asked him about warranty, modding the ecu, diffrent chips, etc. He said diablo chips are the worst, sct was decent. Yes, installing one of these voids your warranty. Yes, they are able to see if the ecu has been tampered with, and yes this does void your warranty entirely (since they cant see what you did, they will assume the worst). according to him, when you bring it in for warranty, this is the very first thing they check. IF they see its tampered with, they immediatly enter your vin into a databse and your warranty is terminated then.
not sure if this is legal, but i didnt read the warranty fine print. Just kinda sucks to have a new car and void the warranty in the first few months of owning it. Im glad i didnt order my tuner yet. Now i just need to find a CIA that doesnt require a tune.
some may know this already, just thought i would let everyone know what my ford machanic said. (i cant name his name or dealership, as they are not supposed to tell you this. All i can say is this dealership is in the top 5 for total sales this year, and in the top 5 for the last few years.
