Thanks I appreciate it. My LS1 is coming with a compressor and ive got a brand new one in the box with all the associated hard lines. I honestly just don't want to deal with all the plumbing and am not as keen on my AC knowledge as I was in school. It's $500 worth of NAPA parts I'm hoping I can return (came with the car). I know this bracket will do the trick and the holley will control it.

Cobra has adopted a roommate.

Going to be doing a cam swap here as soon as he picks out a cam.

Engine made it to indy. To be delivered tomorrow. I went ahead and ordered my fuel fittings and the Holley EFI setup. Kicking around buying a blower cam to run NA for now too. Gotta kick the wallet while its down.

But it might be easier to mess with the Motor while its out? Then you can just add the blower when you get to that point and tune it.

The cam will be a lot easier to do with the motor on the stand obviously. And a bone stock LS1 is going to leave a lot to be desired right away. So that's kind of my compromise from just waiting until I've got the blower here. typically a blower cam makes a pretty good NA cam so it wouldn't be a huge compromise for the time being. Paired with an LS6 intake and longtubes it shouldn't be painfully slow.
Doing the tuning myself means piecing it together once It's running isn't gonna cost me $600 dyno trips
I've decided to deviate from my original roots blower plan anyways.
I know, I know, I'm shocked I've changed my mind too. Very unusual for me . But logic has over-ruled the cool factor so a roots blower is just going to leave too much to be desired.
Which brings me to the heads, 241s aren't the greatest so I've been cruising the Internet looking for a good deal on some better castings. No luck so far but I think that'll probably be the next step.
No sense swapping a cobra to make less horsepower than a stock one did.

I forget I'm on a Ford forum sometimes.

They're a GM casting 6.0 head. Same as a 243 (c5 z06, LS2 head) or a 799 (truck head) but with bigger chambers to lower compression a bit. Will hurt a little NA (compared to a 243/799) but be beneficial boosted. Much better flowing head than a stock LS1 head. Also had a valve job and been milled a hair for flatness. Just wanted to be able to put the motor together once and not have to yank it back out.

What they set you back about $300 for a reman set ready to run?

Never understood the anemic head approach that Ford took on the Windsor.

$200 for a clean, decked set with a valve job. Crazy cheap compared to ford world. And they're bone stock heads that I'll have no problem exceeding my hp goals on.

I really think that's where ford missed the mark on the windsors. The capabilities of the factory parts are what fuels the LS "movement". You just can't build anything impressive on stock ford parts

He Tanner, aside from the stock heads, do you know if there are any others that I should be looking at for replacements on my 5.3 Suburban?

I think many reuse the same heads when replacing but I have one of the years where they used the smaller exhaust manifold bolts. There are several popped off that I swore to not screw with until I was ready to just replace the heads.

This spring come hell or high water, I'm going to replace those heads (and possibly the exhaust manifolds).

Keep in mind that this is a Suburban. It pulls the family and a 35 foot camper. HP wise, I think it's fine but I would not refuse a little more torque (low boost Vortech is a possibility one day).
