well i have come across a really good deal on a charger that im considering... but what should be bought to go with a charger kit?? fuelpump? injectors? what else? im wanting to keep it cheap for now till i could get everything i need... what would happen if i just bought the kit and ran it for awhile till i could get the fuel upgrades??

Well, Im guessing you have stock 19# injectors, which arent nearly enough to support boost, If you ran without fuel upgrades you'll go lean and damage your engine.

You'll need bigger injectors, bigger fuel pump, bigger MAF, and a tune of some sort (i'd go with a tweecer r/t and a wideband but thats pricey) or you can get a custom burnt chip from a dyno tune. Also without a tune you'll have detonation, and other problems, you'll blow a headgasket at the minimum without a tune.

Cheap and supercharger cant really be said together. do it right the first time or pay for a new engine later.

well i am building a engine a 408 auctually lol all the bracketry is the same so i should be able to transfer the charger over....i have a larger maf already and a tune wouldn't be too hard...i planned on a 255 pump anyways but the injectors would be the only part that wasnt planned right now...what size would be needed to support a charger? 42??

You can run a FMU & keep the boost on the low side, yes the FMU is not the most efficient and leaves some power on the table, but it does work. You will need a larger fuel pump, retard the time to 10 degress, 1 step colder plugs, fuel pump & FMU caled to your 19 lb injectors. Lots of people have done it this way.

yes it works that way, usually to rich, take it to a tuner or try to tune it yourself, that FMU will be ripped off of there quickly. I tried to tune my 24's with the FMU and I had nothin but headaches.

well right now on my stocker 302 i have a c&l CAI and MAF a blaster coil a o/r h and a flowmaster cat back... nitrous soon but i dont want to dump a lot of cash into the motor since its high milage and im trying to build my 408... but i figured if i could get a super charger for that little of a price i could swap it over to the 408when its done since they use the same bracketry and i wouldn't be throwing my cash away on a mod that would get scrapped when the new motor goes in. but if i need injectors whats a good size to go with?? i wouldn't want to have to buy 2 sets of injectors but if need be then i suppose i could. and how do you change the pounds of boost?? is it all done with different pulleys??

with the 408, i would recommend a minimum of 42's. as far as boost goes, that is all adjusted by pulley size.

so what size injectors would be needed on the stock engine now..if i get it and put it on this engine to play around with till the 408 is done? 30's?? i think a 42 on this engine now would be wayy to much

on a stock block i would not go any lower than 42's.

if you build a 408 then i would go 60's.

as for the fuel system you should be able to get by with a 255 in tank, t-rex with the 42's and stock block.

with the 408 you will need a better tank pick up, lines, rail, etc. so figure another 1-1.5K for that.

you think i could get away with 42's on my 302???

At lower boost levels no problem - when you start getting into mid teens you'll be pushing the duty cycle on the 42s.

I read some good threads on eectuning.org when I was researching my injectors. I ended up getting the 42#/Lightning MAF deal that buyfordracing.com had - I don't think they sell it anymore however.

so you auctually think the 42's are undersized?!?! wow i thought i read somewhere that people were running 24's with chargers...this info is surprising me lol but im glad you guys are telling me so i dont go out and buy useless parts
