slow acceleration, hesitation, boggy, slow revving, umm there are some other words i want to throw in there but cant think of em. i just bought this tonight and i think its the timing. i just want to get some second opinons before i start messing with stuff.

im going to give it a compression test hopefully tomorrow. this is going to be my daily driver since i have started tearing apart my 5.0.

another couple questions

wheres the pcv valve located on the 2.3?

would a bad pcv valve cause oil in the intake tube?

Check and make sure the plugs wires are in the right order.

All Right tearing apart a 5.0 :p Thats the first step....I'll have you getting ready for a 2.3 turbo in no time. :nice:

PCV is located on the driver's side of engine, upper area near valve cover

PCV could cause that, usually causes excessive oil comsumption and oil can show up many New places.

Ya I have the same problem, but I'm burning alot of oil too. So I'm looking to it being oil/compression rings, or bad valve seals (or valves) I guess doing a compression check would be the easiest thing first. If the pressure is within 25% (ex 150 to 200) then its within tolerence. I also have a sewing machine effect sound too, I'm planning on replacing the stock cam with a roller cam with the rollercam followers and new valve seals. I don't even want to think its rings cause I already had my oil pan replaced 2 weekends ago and I know the hellish job it was. You can check timing. But I don't think its that.

do the compression test first then go get a $25 wal-mart code reader and pull the codes it might be tossing. Fix the codes FIRST and then see if it's still doing the problems.

If it's not throwing any codes anymore THEN look into the timing etc...

well guys thanks for the replys..

oh yea 351coupe this mustang i got was hit on the drivers side and theres a crack in the frame right next to the window. now if thats repairable then ill look into some performance parts..

btw guys today i said funk it and got cylinder #1 tdc and see were the rotor was and i was REALLY surprised were the rotor was. so i took distributor out and moved it 180. wouldnt start so i moved it 180 again and fired right up. then i got out and start turning the cap to see were the engine likes it at. well all i gotta say is these little 2.3l are fun to drive. i can get a 2nd gear scratch thats soooo funny. im going to rip out all the smog **** wednesday and take the cat out.
