OK, so, i put on the Spal Electric fan, the programmer, new 195 t-stat, aluminum radiator, new hoses and underdrive pullies all with a new 130Amp alt.

i took the car for a drive last night, and this morning to drop it off at my vert guy to adjust the top.

It seems that when warming up, it goes to around 195 and stays there. When driving it, it goes up to about 200-205. Do you think this seems normal?

It's been around 55 degrees when driving.

That's not unusual. The non-performance t-stats often don't open fully until 10-15*F over their rating. Your 200-205 is as cool as the car can run before the t-stat starts shutting.

I'd dial in your fan on/off temps accordingly. For instance, you dont want the fan and t-stat to fight eachother (where the fan runs non-stop).

Nice work on all the installs. :nice:

Thanks Hissin. I put in a stant and checked it in boiling water. It opened around 196 or so. I set the hi on the fan at about 200 and the low at 160ish. Wish my Autometer didn't go from 180 - 210. Need some more numbers!:D

200-205 is nothing to worry about...however i would think you would see temps slightly lower than that while cruising. Seems like you have the programmer set up well. I would have it set very similarly. Drive it around...see what happens. I would start to worry if you start seeing steady state cruising temps above 215-220.

You will want to raise the low up probably. Otherwise your fan should run constantly once you reach 160*F. That's just kind of a waste of the controller IMHO.

One thing worth noting: If the stat came from the parts store, it's probably not balanced. Non-balanced stats can suffer hysteresis while in their natural dynamic (yet when boiled in a pot of water, which is very calm, they open sooner).
Again, it's nothing to sweat but it is worth mentioning. If this ever bothers you, I'd recommend a balanced t-stat. You can get a Mr Gasket in a 195*F temp for instance. It's balanced and will open fully sooner. Again, I think you're fine where you're at - that was just something for next time perhaps.

I'd leave that stat in during the winter (190-210* is about optimal for coolant temps). Next spring if you start running too hot for your liking, you could toss in a 180.

If you put a balanced 180 in right now, you might find your gauge reads about 170* while cruising around.
