Tensioner pulley dieing! Have some questions...

My tensioner pulley is making all kinds of rattling and metallic clicking noises and I am pretty certain it is dieing. I've never changed one of these before, how do you release the tensioner arm? Is a special tool needed? Once the tensioner arm is loose do you just unbolt the pulley, and are either of these reverse thread?

I use a half inch breaker bar, insert it in the square hole and release the tension. Very simple task, no special tool required. Well, unless you don't own a half inch break bar.

I've broken 3 tensioners now, they're easy to fix. I got a few new ones at Pep Boys for like $18. There are 3 easy bolts to take off, they're 10 mm. Thats it. Simple as pie.
