Hey All---

Need some advice...I have a off road MAC Prochamber H pipe on my car and its time for inspection. Does anyone know if it will pass? Let's assume the mechanic does not do a visual check..how about then? Worst case scenairo I would have wasted $45.00 =(

Thanks!

Hey guys, sorry but you are in Dallas Fortworth area which uses the IM240 smog test which is different then the rest of Texas. This means that there is NO WAY you will pass with an off road pipe on your car.

Find a stock mid pipe if you want to pass.

He's right, DFW and Houston areas have a sniffer test they do I'm pretty sure. Just take it out of town for the inspection. Almost all places will pass cus they're to lazy to look under the car for cats. If they actually do that, then no, you won't pass.

BAH! I am in Dallas and I passed fine w/ prochamber. As the above states make sure you either get MIL's or Custom Tuner to disable the 02 sensors.

PM me if you need more info.

LOL...well thanks for the advice..just got back and it passed. The guy knew by the sound when he started it up that it didn't have cats. He told me..nice car...illegal but nice...he took it for a spin and passed it anyways after talking with me for a bit.

Ahhh gotta love it =)

Time to update your sig? I don't see an o/r pipe in there. :D Glad you passed. :nice:

Im in San Antonio and i passed no prob with a prochamber, know tons of people with o/r pipes that have no probs either.
Just don't go to some big shop, the little shops almost never care..... I went in with my SES light on and everything, the guy just turned it on, revved it a few times, told me it sounded badass and gave me my sticker. $12 too.
The more ghetto the place looks, the better.

emissions laws vary from county to county.

If your car is registered in an emissions county, then you cannot just go get it inspected in a NON emissions county-assuming you have your registration sticker on it(emissions registration has a small black bar to signify its from an emissions county)

Ive been told that 98+ all they have to do is plug in the computer to the PCM-no dyno, no sniffer test. If the computer shows good on everything its ok. Most of the little oil change places ive been to told me that they cant technically do a visual inspection because their bays arent setup for it(no lower bay).

Just go get your oil changed somewhere that does inspections, and shoot the **** with the inspection guy there, and see if he can hook you up.

Couldnt you just weld the covers from the stock cats(or make something that looks like cats) on to the 0/R pipe?It should pass visual inspection then.I am getting the SLP catted X, then after inspection, I will just put in the supplied (I guess, hope I dont have to buy them too LOL) race pipes after that for the rest of the year...should work just fine.

Mine passed this week with cats. That was the first thing that he checked for. Again the guy could tell by the sound that it had cats. Yes they do a sniffer test in Collin County. My Bassani catted X-Pipe set came with two short tubes to replace the cats. I could pop those in there until next year if I wanted to. I like the way that it sounds as is for now.
