Every mustang I've had has had the same problem with the TFI going bad. It starts out as the car not wanting to fire when hot, then not starting at all.
I have a 94 Chevy Blazer with a 6.5 Turbo Diesel. The electronic PMD is mounted on the engine and fails due to heat. I relocated the PMD to behind the front skid plate. I have no driveability issues and the trucks runs as good as it ever has.
I was thinking about doing the same thing with the TFI module. Extending the wires and mounting the TFI on a heat sink away from the motor. Does this sound like a good idea?

people actually do that, or you can get the tfi dizzies that actually cam factory like that, but i don't know where the tfi module are located on those models. i do have one of those dizzies though. it came out of a 91 5.0HO tbird.

94 and later Mustangs mount the TFI away from the distributor.

The white heat sink grease must be used when you remove or re-install a TFI module. I got mine (big tube of it) from Radio Shack.
