sold my stang.. got a good amount out of it which is more then a fair price for both buyer and seller...

and bought this

got a crazy deal on it! For what i sold my stang for i bought this car.. and can buy the parts to fix it. salvage title from a light front end hit.. no bags launched or anything. black leather inside with a 6 speed.. it is SPOTLESS! Also already has long tubes and magnaflow's (no cats). the LS1 and T56 isnt bad either Thanks everyone for all the help with my mustang. This site is a wealth of information and i will be stalking it from time to time.

I would have praised you up and down for the switch. I've actually been seriously debating selling my GT in favor of a GTO, Ive even been test-driving them.

However, my love for them stops with the LS1 versions. LS1 GTO's are complete garbage. The LS1 goats that Ive driven honestly have not felt any faster or handled any better than my GT. LS2 GTO's are where these cars become good.

LS1 + a salvage title? Wow, at least you are comfortable with it. IMO, its a downgrade.

Guess you're gonna have to come up to the track again to see which on is faster.

Good luck with the build. Put some pics up when you're done.

wow your right... It's 3 years newer, has 60,000 less miles, and over 100 more hp and 100 more tq, plus a way way way nicer interior.. for the same money. your right it's a downgrade
hahaha

max.. i'll for sure have to take it to the track and see how it does. it has a "421 bobcat" package.

The LS2 is a better starting platform, but an LS1 is still an LS1 and will make stupid power with only a cam and supporting mods as they always have. The more you do, the more you get in return.

A friend of mine has a heads/cam Procharged LS1 GTO that's putting down 650rwhp on STOCK internals, with the only changes being APR rod bolts.

Your 'Stang was nice, but I'm sure you'll be happy with the GTO. They're good cars.

650rwhp is crazy!!! i bet that goat runs like the wind. Someday i hope to STS remote mount turbo/intercool mine. very easy to install and sounds like a jet that's a looooonnnggg way down the road though. my check book has to lick its wounds after getting all the parts that i needed today.

YouTube - GTO with Spintech Catback - Cammed

I'd say you can turn a GTO into a pretty mean beast...

Crazy thing about his car is that it's not loud at all. He's got a set of very, very modest mufflers and they mask almost all of the cam lope and if he's just putting around it sounds like a stock Goat.

But when he smacks it, nothing can hold back the noise that's being created then...

I would not have known his car was heads/cam/blower if he didn't have a boost gauge and I hadn't seen under the hood and noticed the heads.

I get that its faster and a more comfortable ride than the mustang but to me I would still rather have the stang. The new GTO looks almost like a Cobalt to me. This will always be at GTO to me, not the new car:

If your happy with it then that is all that matters but I am and will be hesitant of a salvage title but it seems like you knew the previous owner or history of the car very well.

Whats the big deal - that just looks like a Catalina to me?

I'd seriously consider the 21st century GTO if I had to replace my Mustang for some reason. Fantastic car and the understated styling is appealing to me. Good luck with yours.

id take my 7 year old mustang over a newer gto anyday. gto's are big, heavy, and i dont think i've ever seen a website that sells parts for them? they need the extra 100 hp just to keep up with mustangs, as with any other lsx car besides the corvette. the new 5.0 makes "stupid power" with little mods too, so its not just lsx cars.

Yes, but the ls1 was doing it over ten years ago.

Either way, the GTO is nice, but if I were to ever own one it would have to be with the ls2.
