Hi Guys. I think my pain thread some may have taken as a builder bash thread in some respects. This is NOT the purpose of the thread!
I would like to take a moment in open talk to address that. I asked Rick_91GT to build me an engine that had great low end TQ with the goal of reaching 400rwhp. We got the first part right. The heads were a decision on my part to cut costs but we thought they would reach the goal. What we didn't know was how far off they would be in the HP range.
The tough part was that they left us guessing because we thought they would not hold it back so much. The lifters although they looked exactly the same were in fact different. Even so, the engine ran fine and did not lose any HP.
Aside from that, Rick personally delivered the engine, was always around for any Q&A, and was EXTREMELY picky about the machining and assembly. In fact he threw the first block out because it was not up to spec. Rick's agreement was basically to FIND and build me a short-block but he went over and above that with what little time he had because he knew I needed a lot more help!
Other items:
1. Came down and helped me put the engine back in when the oil pan did not agree with the 94/95 (gotta love these years). Rewelded (his dad) the oil pan bolts. He got it in WITH the trans attached! LOL. I still dont know how we did that!
2. Assembled and fixed the length of the steel braided fuel line hose (over and above building a short-block).
3. He and his dad custom made me a 3" intake tube for a great price (more pics soon)!
4. Upgraded my flywheel at no cost.
5. Recommended and acquired a trans built by the best and made recommendations for install.
6. Rick and his dad installed my panhard bar, tq box plates and rear gears of which I have had zero probs with. The quality of this work is second to none.
Rick and his dad do exceptional work. I don't say that lightly cuz I am particular about how I want the car done. Alot of this you did not hear on the pain thread because it wasn't part of the 351 stroker install problems. That thread is for folks trying to head off problems. Thanks for tuning in!
