In case you’ve been under a rock since 1996, when the 5.0-liter V-8 dropped from the Ford Mustang power plant offerings in favor of the 4.6-liter modular power plant, there’s a certain note of news humming about.* That’s right–the 5.0 Mustang is back!* Hey, better late than never, right?* Well, Ford’s made sure the entrance [...]

It's not really back!!! It's a new engine that is 302 cubic inches, it is a 180 degree turn from the old pushrod Windsor engines that were used from the 60's till 1995. This is a all aluminum block and head block, with twin independent variable cam timing with a 7,000 rpm redline. 412 competition kicking horsepower!!

I'm wondering, is it the same block off of the '99 - '03 Cobra?

Hi,a little info on the 5.0 I'm laid off from the Windsor site that makes the 5.4/6.8 v10, and now the new 5.0 in the Essex plant(hopefully that's where I'll be called back to). A few buddies are now working in the Essex plant and one went to the dyno room to see two 5.0's running. They were making 430hp at 7200 rpm. They have been running at 7200 rpm for around 300 hrs....non stop!
As far as tranny bolt patterns I can find out. Before I got laid off I asked management for a new 5.0 for a 67 restomod I'm building. They looked at me as if I had two heads and said there was no such engine and no plans for one. When I get back I'll give it another try, they can't deny it now.

Its nice the see that Ford is really putting the 5.0 through the paces to determine if its up to snuff, 200 hours at near redline should have been more than enough to kill many other motors out there.

We will be getting the new 5.0 motor next month here at StangNet. We will be doing a restoration of our 89 Notchback and converting it to the new engine. Will be an exciting project for sure.

This motor is making it hard for me to to decide to keep mine or see how much a trade would be. Better yet I wonder how easily it would be to shoe horn one into my 07.

should bolt right in,bell housing pattern and mounting is the same, wiring will be a pain. Hold on to your plans and wait for the "road runner" version, WICKED!!
