The best MPG I ever got was on a 1990 5.0 I could get 33mpg on the highway doing a steady 65...Honest....the best I got on my 1999 4.6 was 24 mpg these were done on long trips ...same drill AC on & windows up steady driving, its the lower # gear ratio that brings up the mpg...the late model's just have that higher #'s. no matter what I have tried 23-24 is the best on the road, I sure wish I could get 100 miles on a 1/4 tank....my guage is also funny like the other guys said and drops quickly after that first 1/4 tank.... But thanks again to that great post on drilling the rivitts out on seats did it and some difference....... Johnny

I was able to get right at 30mpg on a 200 mile trip doing roughly 70mph. The A/C was not on because the weather was just too nice outside. So I figure with the A/C on I would probably get around 29mpg. My car is 98 with the 3.27 gears.

our cars weigh quite a bit more than the 5.0L's did. especially compared to the LX. that plus the gear ratios is the reason for the difference. i've gotten 24.5mpg in my Mustang driving 30/70 city/highway going 75-80mph on the highway with two heavy passengers and the A/C on. and i have an automatic convertible.

I normally get 285-320 miles/ 13.2-13.7 gallons. This puts me anywhere from 21.6-23.4 miles/gallon.
Pretty close to sticker which is unlike Ford in most other aspects lol.

My 96 got 29 on the highway, when first got it and it had 2.73 gears, no mods, then I did mods and put 3.55s in and got 26, now even more mods and 4.10s and I get 21-22, so I dont bitch, actually I am quite happy with those numbers

I drove to Key West from Tampa and I got about 27 mpg in my 94' with an exhaust leak. The best my 00' has done is 24-25mpg.

WTF are all these threads about MPG and MPtank lately? If you want good mileage, drive a frickin' Honda!

One time I got 60mpg driving to Dayton and back, all interstate. In my dad's Civic DX.

The best I've gotten from my 02 GT was 26mpg going to Mid-Ohio for the Runoffs last year. I average 20-22mpg. I guess if mileage was my priority, I'd still be driving the Honda.
