It seems to me that Nascar is run by a bunch of douchbags.

The chase isnt a bad idea, it keeps some suspense in the championship until the last race or two.

What is a flop is that if your driver isnt in the chase, you lose interest or dont have alot to cheer for.

What doesnt Nascar reset the point standings for the 13th through 24th place drivers and let them race for 13th and a million dollor bonus?

That would keep at least 24 drivers racing hard to win and keep alot more fans interested.

Discuss.

Do football fans stop watching football when their team doesn't make the playoffs? Same concept.

good idea. Make 13th interesting

but don't worry, they'll up it to the top 14 next season so Jr will be in :D
In all honesty I think Jr. would be in the chase had he not lost 5 engines this season on top of a 100-point bullcrap penalty for some outdated spoiler mounting brackets.

You all will be singin' a different tune come next year when he's running Hendrick power.

NHRA > Nascar
True, but their Poweraid Championship chase program really sucks. Read this...

The Countdown to the Championship breaks the 23-event POWERade Series season up into three distinct sections: the 17-race Countdown to 8, the four-race Countdown to 4 and the two-race Countdown to 1. After the first 17 races, only the top eight drivers advance into the first round of the playoffs, and their points are reset to within 10 of one another. Four races later the field will be trimmed to four finalists, who, after having their totals again reset to within 10 points of one another, will then compete for POWERade Championships at the season's final two races.

Can someone explain the fascination with Nascar? I love cars....but never got into Nascar.....just long and boring to me. But I love being at NHRA races, mostly to see the cars and the adrenaline rush of 330 mph runs that only take a few seconds....which is the same as my attention span.

 It's just another form of autoracing. I'll watch ANY type of racing that involves an internal combustion engine BEFORE I'd ever watch basketball, baseball, or even football. So for folks like me it's a hell of a lot more facinating than watching a bunch of pumped up jocks running around patting each other on the ass.

true, but you can say that same about a few other drivers. Such as "if xxxx wouldn't have took me out in that race, and if I wouldn't have had a blown tire in this race, I would have made it" Sucks. look at Greg Biffle. He's a way better driver then some of hte chasers, but he hasn't been in the chase the last 2 times thanks to other peoples wrecks. Same for Carl Edwards last year.

Look at Jimmie. He had 5 finishes of 37th of worse. Those are races where he wrecked, was wrecked, or had car problems. 37th on back is just like a DNF.

Just saying, that stuff is part of racing, unfortunately. Whether it be a blown engine or tire, or being caught up in the big one, you have to score well in the other races.

and I certainly won't be cheering for Jr next season, no more then you'll be cheering for Gordon ;) I don't dislike Jr, I just can't stand his legion of toothless followers (especially at the track). And yes, I have friends that are Jr fans, they aren't ALL bad. Just a large percentage and especially in our area :D
