Hello!

I wanted to introduce myself and show you what I've been up to. I finished my last 2 year project (bagged mini truck) this summer and had been feverishly looking for a 67 coupe. I found this one in August and grabbed it up. Its a solid 67 that had been converted from a 6 cyl to a 302. Ran GREAT, drove well, stopped as good as any car with 4 drums and no booster. Solid floors, no real rot anywhere. I bought it just to beat around in as an occasional driver and wasnt looking for another project. But as these things usualy go...that didnt last long. It doesnt help that I live 2 miles away from the Mustangs Unlimited location in CT

I started doing some basics the first month (just thought I'd clean it up a bit...as if that was going to be enough) by replacing the bumpers, taillights gas cap ect...

Under the hood had seen better days:

First cold day I started to unbolt some stuff just to look around. You dont REALLY know a car until you crawl around it for a few hours.

Next thing you know, the motor just started asking me to pull it apart:

Couldnt bare to put the old parts back on so...

So now its a nicely built 302 with 351w heads (the good year ) mild cam, headman headers, 600 Edelbrock, High RPM high rise manifold from Proffesional Products ect. Bolted to a B.W. 5 speed with a Centerforce clutch and a 9" rear. Should go pretty good.

Made a oil filter cover into a chrome blower motor cover:

The interior was in wrough shape so that was next.

Did the doors and dash in Gunmetal with a bit of flake, cleared and buffed.

I love the Shelby/Eleanor style, so I'm building it with some of my favorite pieces:

Just dropped in some drop springs, KYB shocks and a big boy sway bar.

Thats it so far...but I think I'm making some good progress for 3 months work.

Thanks!

The engine bay is bedliner.

I have a brake question for you guys...The engine has a decent cam and will have a low idle. I dont want to run an electric vacume pump for a brake booster. Question is, how much of a difference will just swaping the front to disk make? Will that give me enough braking power or do I really need the booster?

If you swap to disc in the front you will need to add a booster. I have done this and the pedal will feel the same as the drum brakes until you add a booster.

I took a set of aluminum door inserts and trimmed them down to fit the standard door panels. I think they look pretty good.

Wired up the new alt...

All the wiring is going between the inner and outer fender

you most defiantly don't need to install a booster if you go discs. how would the pedal switch to feeling like power brakes without a booster?? and the braking power is your leg if you can push the brakes all the way down.. then you're okay if you can't get a booster. i've had manual brakes on my car since i got it, installing front discs was the first thing i did.

the difference was very noticeable, a few years ago i swapped out the back drums for discs there too, and that made it just that little bit better. the pedal is still stiff, but that's how i like it, i don't like power brakes being all squishy.

You know, I kinda thought the same thing. My motorcycle (granted it weighs 600lbs and has 2 serious 6 piston Brembos on the front alone) stops with ease without power assist. Also keeping in mind your doing that with 4 fingers vs the strength of a leg. I may just try the manual disc swap first and see how it goes. The less hoses under the hood the better for me.

We'll hell, if your doing it with the monster under your hood, I'm sure I'm safe with my little 302

I'm going to give the non power a shot, its easy enough to change out later and since I already reinstalled the pedals and the steering I dont feel like swaping the brake pedal anyway.

With this week off from work I plan to make some serious headway.

New aluminum radiator, little bigger then stock so I'm going to have to fab some brackets. I also installed the new (old) battery.

New radiator mounted;

New disc conversion

Working in the trunk:

New radio:

I didnt like the speaker "pods" poking out of the aftermarket kick panels so I made these and resessed the 4" in the door hinge. I think they give a much cleaner low profile look.

The new hood JUST clears the rad and filter by 1/4" on each.

Here is where I got the radiator from:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...0456557659&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK:MEWNX:IT

I also spent alot of time and took alot of measurments to find the perfect rims (well perfect for me anyway). They ar black with a pollished lip (the car will be painted gunmetal with a single black stripe...dont mind the blue )

For the rears:
I wanted 18"
As big of a lip as I could find
As wide as I could get
Still be able to tuck in the fender

I wanted 17"
Small lip for a staggered look
No turning issues

Here's what I came up with, 18x9" rears wrapped in 245/45/18 rubber. Front 17x9" on 215/55/17.

Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics, but here's a pic as it sits now, I will be dropping it 2" to get the car sitting right.

I finished properly seating the old girl tonight. 2" drop in the rear and a 3" drop up front. I LOVE the way it sits.
