My son bought a 94 6 cylinder when he turned 16. Now after two years, he wants to swap the 6 for a 5.0. I'm sure it has been discussed here a million times, but can u guys point us in the right direction for what we need to do. We already picked up a 5.0 engine out of a 90 gt that was an automatic car. it will be going in with a 5 speed. Any help would be great.

Get a donor car. Look out for a wrecked 94-95 Mustang. Then just swap the drivetrain. You'll get the rear end and everything else needed.

Or as cheap as the 94-95 5.0L's are getting, sell the v6 and buy a GT.

I second that. You'll save thousands of dollars that way.

I third that. I'm doing such a swap now, and it's a HUGE PITA. There are two reasons why I'm doing the swap:

1. My Grandfather helped me buy my 94 V6, the stang is a cherished memory of him.
2. I want the experience, to learn how to do it, and to be able to say, "I did this."

I only have weekends to do the work - I started in November, and I'm still not done. Granted, I'm doing a lot of work that isn't necessary, but I want it done. My signature has a link to my progress thread, check it out.

I did the swap a few years ago, here is the low down. If the car is a 5 speed now you can use it same with the dive shaft and cross member, however the clutch, flywheel, throughout bearing and bell housing are all different. You will need a complete injector wiring harness and pcm harness aswell as the pcm it self. the computer you want is the tm40. The front cover on the 90 5.0 is different than the 94 95. It is longer and has some different belt routing. The water pumps spin in the opposite direction. You can use the 90 front cover but it is a little longer and will come close to the rad. the rad and fan you can use but you will need a new fan speed motor as the v6 one will cause the car to heat up. I would recommend using a 95 upper intake and either 86-93 or 94/95 lower will work.(the ealier models flow better). the reason for the upper intake is less work now or you better do a search on a fox throttle body conversion if you want to use the upper you have. I will not go into this because it is covered when you search the forums. The V6 k member will work and I used 94/95 motor mounts not sure whatelse will work. you will need 94/95 fuel lines, fuel rails, tab tad and egr sensors if you paln on using egr and smog. A 5.0 throttle cable also 94/95 and 94/95 headers so they line up with the egr. i recommond keeping the egr as our computers need a tweecer to eliminate it properly. i think that cover most of it if you need any help please email me I have pics of the swap.

[email protected] I also have most of the parts you are looking for but I am located in Canada Good luck it's a great swap and a good learning experience.
