The new 5.0 in a SN95???

So how hard would it be to get this 2011 Mustang Ford Racing 5.0L Crate Engine at LRS - Same Day Shipping! in a SN95? I do have to say $6200 is not a bad price for a brand new 5.0 4V. It also says that the engine mount bosses and bellhousing mount pattern is common to the 4.6L modular engines. Not that I would do this any time soon but If I ever need a new motor this is whats going in.

If the motor mounts are similar it is only a matter of time until someone does it. That being said still think there will be a good amount of customized work. I'd guess 9k to get it all up and running with all the additional fun parts?

That is a good down payment on a new car

It wouldn't be worth the cost in my opinion unless you were going for the "wow factor".

There'd be a lot of electronics work with the variable valve timing, '11 computer and the rest of the 99-04 electronics.

Waste of money. Better to sell the car and add that $6+k you were going to spend into the pot. Use it all as downpayment on a new 5.0 and get the rest of the new car and not just the motor.

Maybe for some that's a better option, but not me. I have so much in this car besides the engine and with only 9k miles, it still is new... and I own it outright to boot. This engine or another, there is no way I would use that money for a down payment and be paying for 72 months and modding all over agin. I would love this 5.0 if it was truly adaptable.

It won't be long until there are some 5.0s in the junkyard due to wrecks. $6k is steep just for an engine in my opinion That amount of money could build a custom setup that is capable to handle tons of power and be reliable.

'cause the rest of the car is a big ugly boat?

this is a hobby, I don't think many of us are involved in "playing with cars" because it makes economic sense

you guys knowi switch motors like i change clothes, and id do it. figuring the gauges is the hardest part, but i see no reason it cant be done. you'll need fuel, pcm, tansmission, and engine mounting. a welder and some metal is all that requires. you can MAKE anything. just do it. look your car is 200-300 lbs lighter. it would be a BEAST.

not taking it personal or anything, but as my fourth V8 stang,(1980-302,1983 notch-302, 1996-281, 2011gt), this is by far the most beautiful car ive owned. by far. its a thing of beauty. the curves of the fenders. the way the nose dips. the candy red. nothing ugly about it. ive been alive to see every iteration of mustangs as they were new. my uncle had a 1965 red convertible in 65. this is the best looking so far. JMO.

that's why they maker different flavors of ice cream, not all of us like the sames things ...I think the new Mustangs is the worst looking Mustang EVER!, including the Mustang II...the front half of the new ones looks nice, and I like the "hips" on the rear quarter panels, but the rear is just plain UG-ULY and a lot of the lines don't seem to be in harmony with each other...couple that to the enormous size of the thing and it's the first Mustang Ford ever built that I'd never want to own

that doesn't mean other can't or don't like, it just means I don't...

I didn't mean to hijack this, I just posted because I'm always surprised by the "it's just easier to buy a new car" posts....car you image where we'd be if back in the 50's everybody just decided it was easier to buy a new Chevy than to put a new small block in their '32? (we wouldn't have American Graffiti or Two Lane Blacktop anyway )

Personally, I don't think they're bad at all, just a little..Um.."hefty". I'm just addicted to mine. I'll still take that 5.0 though. That's the sweetest mill Ford has produced in decades.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with those having the opinion that the rear ends of the newest Mustangs are UGLY. They are sickeningly UGLY!!

In all honesty, it looks to me as if the designers had a contest to see who can come up with the UGLIEST rear end design EVER on an automobile. And the ugliest style won the contract.

The front of the car is BEAUTIFUL, but the rear is just dreadful in every way. Nobody I know likes the design at all. What the HECK were Fords designers thinking, seriously???

Me too... I didnt even consider buying the new stang because I dont like the way it looks. Hate to admit it, but I think the Camaro is so much better looking.

I don't get how some people say 6k for a brand new engine is cheaper then 40k for a brand new GT? I no I can't buy a new GT even if I sold my car and put the money towards it. I think for a total of 10k you could have a new 5.0 and 6 speed transmission that would make for one awesome 2011 GT killer (killer of most cars on the street is more like it). Plus in a year or 2 the price will probably be around 5k for the new 5.0. Actually a great project car would be to buy a nice stock 01-04 GT (if you didn't have a stang already) for around 6-8k and put 10k into a new motor, transmission and supporting mods. So for a total of 18k you could have one hell of a stang.

Thats great if thats something you want to do. But different folks have different thoughts. Not everyone would think it was a good idea to buy a car worth $6k and then spend $10k modding it.

Oh trust me I understand that, it's just an idea. I probably will end up buying a 2011 GT in 2 years when I can pick one up used for under 20k.

just sayin, I built my turbo kit for around 4gs, another 2-3 I would have a built bottom-end. 17lbs+ of boost = smoking almost anything on the road... I think if you got that engine you would spend well over $9000 to install.
