Me too... I didnt even consider buying the new stang because I dont like the way it looks. Hate to admit it, but I think the Camaro is so much better looking.

It does seem like the rear ends of alot of new cars are horrible... the challenger is in that same boat too, great looking nose but the rear kills it. the camaro did get some nice looking junk in the trunk

personally I think the mustang rear end has been sliding downhill since 05.

that said, I'm no expert but I would think using the same money spent to get the new motor in, that you could get much more out of the motor you already got.

For a bit, I considered selling my car and buying a '11 GT, but then I realized that my 2001 looks better, weighs less, and will be a heck of a lot faster when it's done, all for less money. It's also nice to not have a car payment.

High Flow Performance

Been done already in the 86 above.

I already have a TKO600 in my 2000GT. Debating a blower, but now seriously considering this.
It would be a good shop project for us and would be very interesting.

I'm sure the mechanics wouldn't be so bad to line up...sits in, maybe a K-Member/adjustment..and a custom driveshaft.

Now the electronics...hmmm...I'm not that advanced with that stuff but I'm sure I could bring someone in to help.

Ppl put custom things in custom cars all the time, not sure why this would cost 9k. (maybe including a new trans setup)

No one will know though until it's done!

6k plus your existing mods? or a stock SN95 plus 6k in mods.

cuz a coyote will make more power with bolt ons than your 2v can make with a blower. now if you are saying your mods plus 6k, a blown coyote makes ~600rwhp at 8-9 psi.

I'm actually planning on swapping in the new 5.0 into my 96 after I make some rank and deploy a couple of times. Ford racing offers the engine along with the entire wiring harness/computer kit to make it as simple as possible. I could get all the parts including tranni for around $10k.

For those of you arguing that it's not a smart move financially....Owning a Sports car, period, is not a smart move financially. Buying a new 5.0 is just as big a waste of money because it's a toy. Except it's a waste of $30k-$40k instead of my $10k.

those same folks used to argue to me about the cost of modding...until they saw me build and swap motors every few years. for fun.

a 435rwhp 5 liter in a lightened SN95 would rule. im telling you its the ****. and do it on motor.

Yep, I'm planning to try to stay all motor with it if I do it. However, I'd like to have about 500rwhp once I'm done. I know it could surely be done on all motor with a new 5.0, but would it be cheaper to just do it with a blower?

Also, having the fuel effeciency of a new 5.0 would be nice, as I only get about 20 mpg on a good day right now

I don't necessarily view it like that. A toy to me screams flashy and fun, but unreliable, short trip, weekend driver that continuously soaks your wallet dry and requires a lot of maintenance and TLC for upkeep.

The new Mustang (while also flashy and fun) is a smooth, reliable, roomy, multipurpose vehicle that gets great mileage, and is warranted for 5-years.

Just because it looks good and hauls the mail on top of all that, doesn't automatically categorize it as a "toy".

or i dropped 4gs into my stock engine and made about the same w/ 14lbs of boost. Plus just a built bottom end I should be well into the 600rwhp area.
With my brothers setup and a few other turbo setups here on stangnet we have seen well over 500+rwhp on stock engines.

5lbs vs 15+lbs of boost on stock engine.

$4000 turbo setup
$2500-3500 built bottom end

using stock heads, cams and intake and 18-20lbs of boost

btw running just on 12lbs his car ran a 11.6 @124mph on street tires.

2v can do work if you know what you are doing...

So what you're basically saying, is that it would cost you the same amount of money to make similar boosted horsepower levels in comparison to a blown 5.0L TiVCT?

Funny that for some, it doesn't sound so ludictrous to spend $7,500 on a power adder and fortified bottom end (not taking into consideration supporting parts) to achieve the numbers, but spending that much on the FRPP blower kit for the '11 GT to make the numbers is out of the question???

Look all im saying is instead of swapping out the 4.6 for 5.0 in a sn95 for horsepower gain is a waste. I always see these kinds of threads all the time and no one ever gives the 2v any type of respect and thats what im doing here. I'm proud to own one and I have smoked a ton of these five ohs already on the track. If someone here wants to roll, I will do it anytime anywhere.(well if you are in the NC area that is lol) It would cost an insane amount to swap one and on top of that to spend another 7500+ on mods is crazy. If you want a 5.0 right now, go get a 2011..

I'm not faulting the early modular engines here, bur remember....you're now comparing a built SOHC turbocharged 2-Valve to a stock 5.0L Coyote engine and calling it a race. Kinda apples to Rutabaga's comparison if you ask me.

If someone is looking at building a N/A mod motor capable of 400rwhp+ with next to no effort, then perhaps its safe to say an early 2V isn't exactly the most economical starting point? For what you'd spend on either of them, going with a fresh, new engine swap might not be so far off base at all?

no a 2V cant.

500rwhp is rare to survive in a 2V. maybe 1 person has done it. there are not 500rwhp 2V's out there everywhere. there ARE 600rwhp coyote's out there. and they will live plenty long.

so i build my coyote's bottom end and its lights out. you can NEVER as long as you live make the power a built coyote can.
