hey everyone. well i just picked up a 2003 svt cobra vert and love it!! im new to the whole cobra thing though and thought i could get some good answers from here with everyone. its modded pretty good, 60 lb injectors, fuel pumps, intake, ported eaton, all pullies including a 3.100 upper, 3.73 gears, twin disk, subframe connectors, roll bar, etc.. im currently running rich up top (the initial wack is a 11.0:1 and at around 5k its down to a 10.6:1 a/f ratio) thanks to my lm1 wideband. i am trying to get soem dyno time set up but was wondering how efficient my blower would be with a 2.760 or a 2.930 upper pully. i have both. im hoping for around 500rwhp after my tune on just pump and boost. am i asking for too much. also, upon start up sometimes, it will blow out some smoke (oil). i asked a buddy of mine with a kb 2.4 cobra and he said it is probably in need of a pre filter for the pcv system. sound about right to anyone? i went and ordered one anyways. the car was checked out by a FORD mechanic who said everything was in great condition including the motor. anyways, thanks to anyone who can chip in any info..

Funny that the previous owner went through the trouble of upgrading to 60lb injectors and all, yet is only running a 3.10 upper on a ported Eaton? You sure there isn't a lower on the car? Might want to measure it before you go slapping a new, smaller upper. What is the current RWHP now with this setup? With your mods and 16-17lbs of boost you should be at or above 500RWHP.

As for the puff of smoke on start-up.... that's a common problem with these 03/04 Cobra's, even stock ones. The most common cause is oil blow by being sucked back into the motor from the PCV. This can be more pronounced with additional boost. Other folks say it's from a small amount of oil which leaks down around the valve guides. Mine even when stock used to do it and still does today.

he gave me a bunch of stock parts, nad there area a couple of im guessing lower pullies? thanks for the imput on the smoke. i heard that it was common. i think it might be sitting around 425 rwhp right now cause of the crappy tune. my last car was a 97 eagle talon that i built up and was sitting at 340awhp, and i can tell it has alot more torque, but i fell it should have more "go".

Just for S&G's you might want to go measure the lower pulley from edge to edge just to see if it's stock or not. All the mods you listed for the car just don't add up right with only a 3.10 upper? Sounds like the tune is rich because the car used to be running more boost. I get this funny feeling that it used to have a 6 or 8 lb lower on it, but now it no longer does for some reason? Something is kind of fishy.

well i know for a fact that it was detuned for the sale, ant it was running more boost and race gas at one point. that is what it was tunned for. i will measure them later and get back to you.

alright, just looked at it, the pully directly under the upper measures like 3.5inches, the one to the right of that, is like 3.75, and the idler pully is about 4 inches. also, is there a linky about how to operate an sct xcal tuner? i have one for the car. i dont think its the live wire model though.

Well the pulley I was referring to is the crank pulley. The one all the way at the bottom. It should be 7.5 inches across if it's stock.

As for the SCT Xcal... what is it you want to do? I wouldn't use it to mess with any of the parameters of your tune if I were you. Your car is highly modified and you could risk messing it up if you were to try and adjust your A/F with the xcal at this point. Do you know if the previous owner left any of the custom tunes loaded in it when he sold you the car?

ok, my bad, just checked it and it is stock. im going to get it tuned this weekend, just set up an appointment. is there anything i should know in general about these cars?
