Made some progress today but not nearly as much as I wanted. Pulled the water pump out and regasketed the backing plate, then regasketed and reinstalled it to the engine. Also cut the heater hoses and replaced most of them with heater tubes for a 93 Cobra from LMR. What's giving me problems is the alternator bracket. It's made to be used with V-belts but since I'm going with a serpentine style belt it required me to cut 1 inch spacers for the brackets and to find 3 longer bolts. Of course they couldn't be found locally, so I had to order them from a specialty website vs Amazon since Amazon wants to sell multiples for a higher price and I only need one each of 3 different lengths. So the Cobra is on hold again....

Well, I did finish the fuel injection install on the Cobra but stalled because the water pump is leaking and I need to get the accessory drive ironed out, but that's going to have to be saved for another post....

BUT, I just bit the bullet and ordered a Marti report for both the Cobra and the GT. I'll share them when I get them, but I'm going to give this disclaimer RIGHT NOW - the Cobra isn't a real Cobra (as I'm sure most of you already know....) - it was a black Rallye package.

No, I removed it all when I had the car torn down. I was still in Iowa at the time and AC wasn't such a big deal or concern. I really wish I would've kept most of the components now that I live in the ATL. I keep thinking that I need to find a donor or replacement just to get the AC system back.

You’re running a serpentine belt setup now,right? Could you use like a late model compressor/bracket from a fox/sn/truck? And build your own lines

Zero craps given. Restomod or concourse.

I've seen two different YT videos on retro-air installs on Fox Bodies and they have a kit for 70-82 as well. 10 to 1 it's better than OEM.

I've kind of wondered about this option - like how different are the hvac boxes between them anyway? Figuring out the controls is the easy part really.

I've seen full Fox dashes swapped into a II so....

I would say there would be some custom duct work at worst.

Yeah, they're pretty close in appearance. I've not tried to measure either of them to see how close they are in size, but I imagine one could swap them and make it work well enough. Of course I'd most likely want one from a 4 eye car just because it's at least close to the same as the II's dash - it's hard telling how easy it'd be to find a good one though, just like the II.

Received and installed the new cap screws and mounted the bracket yesterday. The threaded insert for the head is scheduled to arrive today, then the last piece of the puzzle - which I totally spaced on until last night - is a new spacer for the alternator. I just ordered 6" of 1/2" x .125 aluminum tube from Metal Supermarket. I'm hoping it'll be delivered today since the nearest store is like 5 miles or so from the house, but I'm not holding my breath. I would plan to just stop on my way home from work but I'm afraid they'd be closed by time I'd get there.

One last thing that I can think of about this part of it all is that I think I'll have to re-clock the alternator again.

The aluminum tube isn't supposed to be delivered until Wednesday, but I got most of it thrown back together and got a more accurate measurement for the tube. I also had to order a new belt, the one I had with the original brackets is too short. So when those finally arrive all I should need to do is cut the tube to length, install it, reinstall the radiator and hoses, install the new belt, fill it with coolant, then fire it up.

Your crank pulley is smaller than normal, right?

So it slows down the water pump and accessories. I had one on my drag Falcon but never used one on a street driven car.
