The original "Historic Mustang"..........

In the summer of 1964 Dad purchased this one for my brother and I. Convert, 260, 3 speed, baby blue with blue interior. It absolutely drove the girls crazy.

Yep, this is the one that started the madness!

Not to hijack your thread... But I have a "Historic" question.
Date: Feb17,1965
Location; Valentine's Day Race-Green Valley Raceway, Smithfield, Texas
As a 16year old kid, there I am hanging on the chainlink fence. Directly in front of me, on the starting grid is Ken Miles's GT 350(about 35yds. away) About to turn the wheels in anger, for the first time..... The Question.. Who did drive the other GT 350?? I want to say Pedro Rodrigues. Can you tell me??

As far as the factory "R" Models from Shelby I believe only one was entered for this event - 5R003. As you know Feb. 1965 was very early in the production of the Fastback. It is possible a privateer could have entered a Mustang Fastback (not an R Model) or could perhaps the other car have been a Coupe?

Thanks "Historic", its probably more a case of me wanting to remeber two GT 350's that day.
I used to go to GreenValley every time they had sports car races there(GV actually a dragstrip) and there were other times, multiple Gt 350's were there. Probably Pedro & Jerry Titus , that other day.

But notice the sticker on the front fender, below Ken's steering wheel . Hehheh
