I'm thinking about putting an extinguisher behind the pass headlight where my air filter used to be.

In the engine bay? Talking about a remote extinguisher system or something? I just have one mounted to one of the panels in the hatch, within easy reach from the back seat. I could get to it in a hurry if I had to.

yup. push a button and flood the underhood with powder and foam. I have had more than one electrical in the last couple years and my fuel rail just popped off the #5 injector and hosed my engine bay with fuel while I was going down the street. I am amazed it didnt burn down there.

I just got this POS running somewhat decent. Cant let it burn up now. Besides, I gotta stomp this guy with a first gen probe that swears up and down his car is faster than mine and its stock. then I will take out the new fire extinguisher and put his car out while its burning down at the track.

my dads 1970 EL-Camino also burned to the ground about 3 years ago. It was a very nice car. It was a SS 396 375HP car with a Cowl Induction hood and AC, and was black with white stripes. now, every car that we have has at least one fire extinguisher in it.

Funny you mention that... today I drained my oil and took off my oil filter without a drip of oil on the pavement. Filled the oil fill with about 5 quarts. I was amazed at the clean job!!! But then as I was pouring the old oil into the the container I realized that there was only about a quart of dirty oil. I realized that I forgot to drain the 2nd drain plug in the rear (b/c I'm running a Moroso oil pan). Dang it!!! So basically I poured 5 quarts of new oil into my engine with 4 quarts of dirty oil! After this it was all downhill...

I drained the rear plug and of course I forgot my oil pan drain only holds 6 quarts. I had to plug it just before it spilled over. But as I dragged it out from under I hit a rock and oil spilled over all over the place. Pouring the oil out of the oil pan drain didn't get better. Basically oil was everywhere! I think next time I'll just go to local oil change place down the road for $20 bucks.

Been there, spring 2010 came home on spring break from school to have a drag racing night with friends at the track. So, I decided to install 24 lbs injectors, mass air, and cobra intake for the race night. Well, was wrapping things up on the install and thought my father had checked over the fuel rails (He thought I too had already went over them). But, turns out they were not on completely and that safety clamp was MIA. So, when I went down our dead end mile road for a test run. On the 1/2 mile mark car went in flames, I was just in shock for about a minute at the sight . Fastest I ever ran a 1/2 mile in my life. Grabbed several fire extinguishers, hopped in my other car and put my stang out. End result was spending the winter putting pieces back together.

^^ ouch that would of had to suck! I'd be pretty crushed if my car went up in flames.

A friend of mine was working on a car and set a can of wd40 then the battery. knocked it over and bunt a hole threw it and light it on fire.and sent it spinning across his shop. Woulda looked pretty funny seeing him chasing a wd40 can spinning across the floor blowing flames out of the side lol

wow, you guys have had it pretty bad. I hope for me it stays simple. the other day as I was filling up my newly refreshed engine with coolant, I realized that there was a crack on the lower intake by the thermostat housing. so, I went to drain all the coolant (from the bottom radiator house for quicker drainage out of frustration). it started seeping out little by little, but I wanted to get it DONE! so I tulle the hose out a little further and the F-ing Hoover Dam exploded on my face. I tried to put the hose back in but instead it directed all that coolant at my face, in my eyes and mouth, nose, ears, pretty much anywhere it could go. with my eyes burning and a bitter taste in my mouth, I had to let go and roll out from underneath the car, letting all that coolant go to waste. washed out my face, wondering if having this stuff in my eyes was going to do any damage. luckily, I washed it off and I was ok, except for that bitter taste in my mouth for another hour. should've brushed...

Not car related but did happen in a garage. Was running speaker wire in the attack during the summer in a one story house made in the 70's (not much room). I managed to get where I needed but when I looked back to see had far I got, panic sat in. I can barely breath from not having any ventilation, it's about 120+ degrees and I doubt I can crawl back to the starting point. Do I try to make it back or just kick through the ceiling and fall into the living room. Nobody is home and nobody around.

I managed to crawl back to the starting point but right about then I had zero strength and getting light headed. Came off the ladder and on the last step collapsed, passed out on the floor. Don't know how long I was out but was in a puddle of sweat, totally overheated my body.

Dumbest thing I've ever done.

Had just finished up the body work on my 93 and was backing out of the shop. There were wheel weights on the ground and instead of just picking them up I decided to open my driver side door just enough to see my rear wheel to maneuver past them. Crunch, the door caught the brick wall and bent the metal on the door 90*. Pulled back in, grabbed a hammer and got it back straight enough to close the door. Had 40 other auto tech and auto body students laughing at me.

This is by far the worst I've done....was on the job measuring up a school with a co-worker and we were in the chemistry lab. I have no idea what possesed me that day but I saw a plain dark brown bottle with the writting HCl hand written on it. Surely I thought no one would be dumb enough to just let hydrochloric acid just sit out on the counter like that. I even used the "wafting" technique you are supposed to use when smelling something...but boy, that does not work for hydrocloric acid....one whiff and I had a severe burnning in my nose and head. I had to sit down fast as my eyes rolled in the back of my head according to my co-worker. I thought I was a gonner from that...felt like crap all day. Im sure I lost half of my brain cells that day.
