Ok, finally got around to working on my 3G install. I've made the bracket for the fuse and got the power wire and all... still not sure about the rest of the wires though.

Stock harnass has two wires to the Alt- one big black one and one rd/gr one. The 3g diagram says wire the rd/gr to the new alt... but when I trace the wire back is goes down from the alt to the VR? The big black one goes back looks like toward the cabin of the car. Which one of these should I wire in? So far as i see... if I wire the rd/gr one like the BC Bronco site says, it goes no where. The Swede is gettin' very frustrated about being confused... can some wiser, more knowledgible, (insert other praising comment here), citizen of stangnet help me out?

Oh yeah... and kind of a side note, how many and what wires should be wired to the positive side of the solenoid? I know I have a bunch of wires going there (I've added power for electric fuel pump and headlight relays, also have a fusible link, supposedly a constant power from crapp-a$$ radio, and one little red wire). What is supposed to be there? And, for some reason I believe I have both a fusible link and a fuse on my fuel pump relay... this isn't necessary right...?

Thank you to any of those who can help

Stock black wire goes to the alt guage then back to the starter soli.
the red/green is the field wire from the volt reg., tells the alt to charge.

I would use a fuse to your relay's the links when blow are harder to change.

as for the wires on the + side, Batt, charge wire and accessory connection.

and what ever you have to have a constant power source for.

A pic would be nice to help you. :D

Thanks PB, you know, you've always been really helpful with my wiring woes. i really appreciate it.

Ok... I've pretty much wired in the alt, this is what I have...
Large black wire- capped off
Lt.Green/red- Wired to new Alt
Yellow- wire to solonoid +
The other wires I have are (to solonoid)
Fusible link 1- Unknown (though it blew when I once crossed the black and red terminals on old alt with bat still attached... :bang:)
Fusible link 2- Wired to fuse then to fuel pump relay (unecessary?)
Small guage red- part of red/black set (ignition coil?)
Large blue #1- unknown (goes to cabin, thought for radio, but disconnected and tape player still played. Non-power antenna)
Large Blue #2- Headlight relays through fuse

Add to that a batt wire and a power wire from alt fuse and it's kinda crowded. I'm thinking of just putting a junction block below the alt fuse, just don't know how exactly to execute it. Also wondering if there is a way to clean a lot of that up, since most of it runs into the cab... i.e inner mount with large guage (8?) wire feeding power to it?

Hopefully the pic I made will help explain where I'm at.

You might consider running an 8 ga. power wire off the starter solenoid into a fused distrobution and hooking your accessories up to that.

Mild thread jack, I was just curious (for cosmetic reasons) if I could hook up my alternator charge wire directly to the + battery terminal and then run a wire to the + side of the starter solenoid

Well. pretty much finished wiring everything today. I will try to post a pic tomorrow.

I will try to track down the wires tomorrow and figure out what they do. I'm pretty sure the blue one has something to do with the radio. I actually tracked that one back and it goes into a small black cylinder, which has a large green/black wire on the back .

Right now all I need is to finish the ground wire for the alt, and install that and the power wire to the fuse and I'll be set. Then I'll start looking for what those wires do.

Thanks for all the info guys.
