weight redution... ditching the whole heater system was the dumbest!

not only is it cold as ****! i forgot to block off the air duct from the wiper cowl! needless to say i froze my balls off on the work this morning

Man I hear you! Some times it's best to consider whether freezing your balls off was worth 14 lbs.

Back when I was racing a fox, the stupidest "waste of time" for me in search of weight reduction was cutting that door skin reinforcement out. After all the time getting sparks thrown all over me, and what I had to do to get it out of the door,....I'm thinking "I did all of that for this?"

even though my heater hasnt worked for a long time now, i will never get rid of it. I cant wait till i have it back. I hate not having a defroster for the windshield, and whenever i get stuck in the rain it is a bitch to keep the windows from fogging up.

a long time ago i took out the a/c then 100 degree summer days here convinced me to put it back in. feel no difference power wise. but it's nice to have a/c again

Yea, taking out the AC was the biggest mistake I ever made. I still have the compressor and a few odds and ends, one of these days I am going to piece it back together.

I dont regret yanking my HVAC, insulation, sound deadening, back seat, excess wiring behind the dash. It was worth it for the 2900lb with driver weight. But i Also sparsely drive on the street, and only have a 1 mile commute to work so if i do drive it its not a big deal. But man driving it the 18 miles or so to knotts or the queen mary ****in blows.

I can live without AC, you can always roll the windows down. You're pretty much screwed when your window fogs up and frosts over and you're driving without defrost.

Mine is at the local dump. Hasent worked in years and I dont drive the thing enough to care. If its cold the engine/tranny put off enough heat to keep me warm wearing a sweatshirt. It is also a lot more then 14 lbs. The door bars and sheetmetal were about 40 lbs also, so it was worth the 45 min per side.

When you get to the point that you are cutting out door parts, removing the heater and A/C, for sake of your 1/4 mile ET, it is time to park the car in the garage and trailer it to the drag strip. Get a beater suitable for the worst weather in your area and use it for your daily driver. You''ll be glad you did the first time you break something Saturday night at the drag strip. No more furious efforts on Sunday trying to get it put back together to drive to work on Monday.

ahhhhh weight savings lol Been there done that with my first hatchback...

No insulation
No power steering
No smog
No mufflers
No backseat
No sway bar
Carb swap
etc...

But it did have heat
