Thermostat Help asap

Im putting my cobra intake on and i just bought a new thermostat but its 197 degrees!! thats a bit high is it? what should i run? or should i run that?

I run a 160 but most will tell you to run the 180. I wouldn't go no higher that.

right now the only mod is the cobra intake, im pulling the motor this winter to rebuild it and put heads and a cam in it.

what temps were you running before, and what temp stat was in there before?

a 180 is almost always a safe bet.

well i put the intake on, and now im running warmer than i used 2. I used to be just above the 2nd notch. Now im at the third notch so my gauge is parralellel _ . Is this normal? Ive never seen it run this warm before, and its really bothering me. I left the same thermostat that was in the old intake in this one.

You sure you got all the air of out of the system?

Turn the car on with the radiator cap off and start pumping the top radiator hose for a few minutes while the car is running and then turn off the car and put the radiator cap back on and go for a drive and see how it goes...

yep, air in there will create some hot spots and erroneous gauge readings (please get a real gauge too).
