Engine Thermostat Housing & Overheating

I'm using a SBF 90 degree thermostat housing on my 351 based motor. The thermostat is higher than the radiator housing which makes it a pain to bleed air out the cooling system. U was going to try the 45 degree maybe but are there any housings that come straight out??? Or an aftermarket piece that can help address this? Do you guys have any advice besides jacking the car up extra high?

Bump Bump Bump

So i'm thinking of installing a little bleeder valve in the rear of the intake in the 1/2" npt fittings. I was looking at these on E-Bay....I really need to get this air out. It creeps up to 210-220 in traffic.

Try it. It sure wont hurt anything. If it doesnt work you can always put a plug in it.

Many stock SBF thermostat housings have the screw in plug. Get a stock one as the aftermarket ones suck. You can bleed it right there by unscrewing the plug. Also, you can bleed the system by unscrewing the temp sensor in the lower intake, fill up the system with coolant until it just touches the bottom of the threads where the sensor screws in and that should work . They do sell thermostat housings that swivel as well.

You may be able to get one of those fancy chrome upper radiator hoses they sell in the aftermarket, then install your own bleeder. That would be pretty trick, and being the highest point of the entire system is perfect.

I kinda like the idea of putting a bleeder screw on the thermostat housing. I may try that. I havent seen the swivel housings though. I have the black flexible metal upper radiator hose right now
