Hey guys, need your opinion. I just picked up a set of Mickey Thompson ET Street Slicks. I have a nitrous kit I am about to through on the car. The suspension is stock for the most part. I have a few basic mods, gt40p heads, tfs cam, tfs intake, full exhaust, 3.73 gears, under drive pullies.

I am starting with a 50 shot and try to work my way up to the 125 shot. I am using a window switch and a wide open throttle switch. What do you guys think about me spraying off the line with this setup? I am thinking just dropping the clutch around 3k or so and with a clutch cut off switch I'm thinking the nitrous will hit right off the line. I am thinking some torque box reinforcements are in order?

just start off with with the 125, you wont even feel the 50. This is coming from alot of nitrous pulls.
Dont spray it that low off the line, you could prolly launch harder on motor higher up. If it hooks dropping it off the limiter, then try the nitrous, or as soon as the clutch engages and hooks then spray.

basically try it for yourself and see how it hooks up, and tune from there. torque box plates are a must, and 31 spline axles. I ripped one of the uppers off my 89lx on the street, and bk_cauley pulled both wheels about 4 times at the track with his gt, and his were fine, so just go ahead and do it while your there.

The torque boxes I may do, its going to be a while before I can afford upgrading the rear end and axles. I guess I will try it out and see what happens

IDK about the rest of your combo, but for me and one of my 347's 125 was good enough to shear the axle. As you probably already know, an axle broken anywhere will usually end up w/ one of those new slicks somewhere in your quarter.

Until you reinforce the areas Rusty recommended (including the axles and T/B's) I'd hold off starting line hits of nitrousw/ a 5 speed.

Just saying.

Hit it with 125 when launching at about 5 grand, if you try to launch at 3k, i think the car will bog. The TQ box plates that sandwich the floor will work good for what you are doing

With my old 306 I would spray right off the line with a 150 shot, it was on a wot switch.

when you have seen someone snap an axel and drive the car pretty much full speed right into the wall in a matter of 1 or 2 seconds, you'd probably invest in the axel over the boxes

Is there a thread somewhere on how to do a 31 spline swap? Are there any junkyard cars I can get a 31 spline diff from? Never worked on a rear end before but wouldn't be afraid to dive in there.

So lets say I wanted to spray in second gear and skip first. How would I skip first gear with a window switch and WOT switch? I dont have any fancy electronic equipment. Would I just have to manually activate the nitrous switch once I get into second gear?

Momentary switches behind the shifter on each gear you want to spray.

a switch you flip manually would be the simplest way to do it

probably wont break but spraying off the line with sticky drag slicks will find the weakest point in the chain.

but you'll go faster if it all holds together
