Thinking about an S2000

I was talking more on the lines of overall performance. Yes, straight line the notch can hang but if you throw in turns and a bunch of chicanes stock for stock the S2000 would win by a good margin.

I just like to keep an open mind about cars. I like everything from domestic, european, import etc. I try not to limit myself.

Upgrade the Suspension in the Notch and it will handle just fine.

I test drove one when I was looking for new car and had mixed feelings. They are very tight and corner like God. The problem being, I have always driven cars with lots of low end punch, and you will definitely not get that with the S2000 (even with the post 04 2.2 litre version) After thinking about it for a while, I found that I would miss the low end grunt too much. That said, they are an outstanding car, Go like hell, and, they are a Honda. Tight - tight -tight like a tiger.

One last warning, if you are used to driving a car that understeers like the Fox body, be careful when you are finding the limits of the S2000, as they tend to oversteer. If you have driven late seventies to late eighties porches, you'll know what I'm talking about.

Cheers

Your talking about comparing apples to oranges, your mustang has 20 year old tech. for suspension vs. a new honda....

The fox suspension was designed in the mid 70's. Its even less fair to compare the two.

I would like to buy a crx to play with. My wife used to have one and it was great.

How about spending the money on some maximum motorsport suspension pieces. I just did lower and upper control arms on my coupe and I'm loving it. With a panhard bar and new shocks I suspect it will take the corners pretty well.

I had one a few years ago and wish i still had it. They are not drag cars, but they drive and handle very nice - They are more of a very well rounded sports car. They do not sound bad at all stock, they are pretty quiet. The new ones with the 2.2's in them have fixed the way they feel driving at low RPM but they don't rev to 9k any more. Good luck with your choice.

this is the ONLY honda I like and would get... if I could afford it lol

This is ***ing ridiculous. Did anybody read the part where the one guy said his bone stock Honda Prelude beat a WS6 on the top end?:rlaugh: If you guys want to see something REALLY funny, watch the sh$t I stir up in this forum in about two minutes. Somebody has to do something about this right now.

A Honda Prelude beating a WS6. LMAO! :rlaugh:

It's not worth starting crap on other sites, I just let them be since their words on their website doesn't make any difference in my life besides when I need a good laugh.

You're probably right.....it's just SO damn funny when kids start putting 19" spinners on their cars along with these big ****ing wings and everybody thinks their 90 lb/tq automobile is going to touch my 380 lb/tq monster. I LOVE eating Hondas for breakfast. Matter of fact, I've started to move on to the Mitsubishi's. I recently beat that Evo 8 on the highway. Mind you it was on the highway, and not from a dead stop, but givin enough room and my V8 will almost always walk by ya. Remember, we have the benefit of quicker revs combined with the power of a V8. That's just SICK. Man......I love this car! :nice:

This is the same attitude that leads people to believe that a large SUV is the safest choice for their family (it isn't). There is nothing unsafe about the S2000. In fact, I would bet that it's much safer than any Fox body could ever dream of being.

Well the fox IS 14 years old... SO I really hope an expensive NEW sports car will be safer than a car based on the 79 Fairemont :p

The 2007 'vert Mustang does pretty good compared to the S2000, I wouldn't call the S2000 much safer than a Mustang?

It's unsafe to be made fun of so excessively that your attention diverts to your laughing friend in the passenger seat instead of being focused on the highway in front of you. I find that VERY unsafe.

I won't get in my friend's S2000 for that very reason. I don't want to distract him with laughter.

I'm j/k. Those cars handle quite nicely. But that's IT.

If you're in a market for a small 2 seater like that, I would suggest this

I don't care if an S2000 will outhandle this Miata (won't be by much anyway)... Even if this one has to slow down a little in curves, I don't think it would have any trouble catching up to a S2000
