Thinking about coming back...

That trucks nice man, sounds like you got a pretty sweet deal on it

I have an 05 with a 4" MBRP exhaust and a SCT tuner with an innovative extreme tune and the truck really rips, no problems yet, knock on wood, but the good thing about innovative(if you dont have head studs) that they dont turn the boost way up and they shut the EGR off in the computer so it helps alot with the TTY bolts. I think im bringing it to lebanon tonight to see what it does.

But you should really get on buying that tune like yesterday, you will not believe the difference it makes with even the 75hp tune, and then when you put the 125hp extreme tune in it is a total animal, my truck will break the tires loose from a 15-20mph roll and pulls like a mofo on the highway, its unreal
The innovative tune is good for 400rwhp with supporting mods

Hooo leeee shhhiiiaatt! Where've you been, brother? Nobody's out to ban you. Your IP address is still allowed isn't it?

Just do me a favor and don't call moderators, other than me, names. Especially when they outrank me.

Chris

When you get your tune make sure you go with Innovative Diesel, best tunes on the market

yeah that is what i am leaning towards

your from our area? yeah i am dying to see what mine does, i have the money i was gonna get an X3 with the new edge digital dash scan thing, they have deals for like 800 with custom tunes and EGT probes included as well as everything to mount it. im glad i waited and ended up bullet proofing it a little more with the studs and egr delete. if you ever need work done under or out of warranty let me know one of my friends is a master tech and works and a "mod-friendly" dealer here in ct, he does side work too, so i can probably hook you guys up if you need anything. im psyched to tune it, the truck should be pretty quick with the innovative tunes, i cant wait to destroy my $1500 tires every time i roll into it haha... like i said if i get a bone stock fox its gonna be interesting taking it to the track with a truck that will beat it lol. i really gotta go buy a tuner, ive just been holding off because i have been struck with a bad case of fox-fever these past few weeks haha, saving for the right car if i can ever find it.

haha i am so glad your still on here bro. my IP was blocked for awhile but i guess not anymore. i tried logging on my other 5 screen names and it was like "5.SLOW, Riceslayer302, you have been banned for inappropriate behavior blah blah blah, your ban will be lifted: NEVER." im glad to be back though but it sucks really bad being stangless, gotta work on that.

if/when that time comes im sure i will. even then its still warranty'd for another 65k. what else was i gonna get? a chevy?

Good call on the warranty :nice: and as much as i like the speed of a duramax it will never take plave of my 7.3 when it comes down to pulling. you got a damn nice truck there though.

where you been hiding? no 5.0 right now?

I got my old vert back. just aint had time to get it back together.

do you have a powerstroke?

Yes i do. a 7.3 and i work on diesels everyday and we see more IPC HPOP failures on 6.0s than any other diesel out there. and by that i mean for ANY problem with a stock or near stock diesel (any brand) there is at least 2-3 6.0 oil related failures. the stock pumps are a bad design. and as long as you dont plan on over heating your truck or running high boost stock head bolts will be fine. but for a modded 6.0, studs are the best bang for the buck. a pain in the ass but very much needed.

BK_Cauley, my mother has a stock '05 Excursion with a 6.0. Is there a recall on the pumps? Now that it's out of warranty, should I tell her to take it in and have that pump replaced with a different unit if it isn't under warranty? Does Ford have a fix?

If it were me, I'd let it ride, but I pay close attention to the gauges every time I look down. My mother will drive on even if she knows something isn't right. So, preventative maintenance may be a smart move for her.

Thanks,

Chris

thanks, i like duramaxes as well but as far as i am concerned i can no longer bring myself to give even the slightest amount of respect to chevrolet ever since they took the gov't bailout, fired their CEO because the comrade communist commander in chief told them to, and robbed all of our tax dollars to keep their bankrupt, company that sells products that obviously nobody wants afloat.

does anybody plan to overheat their truck? haha. i havent noticed many guys complaining about IPC HPOP problems on the powerstroke forum, i know we've had 3 of them so far and several others in my extended family and no problems so far, just a turbo on my dad's work truck and trailer brake fault on mine. i think the key to a 6.0 is maintenance maintenance maintenance. do you work on mostly fleet vehicles?

No recall on the pumps but ford offers an updated pump for it. Whats going wrong with the factory pumps is internal. they have a two piece seal inside the pump (part of an internal regulator) and it seperates and causes the pump to lose pressure.

If you have a secondary shop do repairs (if needed) DO NOT get the pump from a parts house because you will get a rebuilt stock unit and it WILL fail again.

Thanks for the info. Do the pumps regularly fail at similar mileage? How much would the job cost? If you had the Excursion would you go ahead and replace the pump even though there haven't been any problems to date?

Not so much fleet, but these trucks get used as trucks everyday. ford doesnt have a recall on the pumps but they do have a recall on the IPC's. its recall# NHTSA05V270000

And not sure if you know but there is a recall on your trailor brakes also. i will look up the recall info on it in a sec.

No, they just hit whenever. We have one right now that failed at75,xx miles but last week had one with 250k on it. Book time calls for 7 hours to complete the job. so just get labor rates in your area and that will give you an idea. the pump itself from ford is (area pending) anywhere from $675-$800 the ford part number you want is 4c3z9a543aarm

And no i wouldnt do it. its nothing that will cause damage. Your injectors just lose pressure and it starts running like crap and loses all power.

Oh, ok. The thought of an oil pump losing pressure sounds really really bad for an engine.

If the engine loses pressure it wont take long for a diesel to be wasted. but as SC said. the pump im refering to drives the injectors.

Haha this is why I want a fox again. Diesels are a little complicated lol

did you see the TSB i posted about the injector pressure sensor on page two? and the recall on the trailor wiring harness.

i did, they covered my TB fault under warranty

I remember you, your engine bay thread was bad a haha. I followed it all the way

haha yeah that was a fun project, i need another fox
