Thinking about ordering a '07 V6.... Any reason not to?

So I have my 92 5.0 that is my toy car but im looking at getting a new DD. I currently drive a little honda civic, but I am willing to sacrifice some gas mileage for the new styling of the mustang and a little more peppier car.....

My local deal is taking orders for 07 models so I figured I would get mine in..... Is there any reason not to get one? What kinda problems have the v6 cars had? Are the motors reliable? I don't plan on driving it as hard as my 5.0 but I want to have a fun car.

I plan on doing the following shortly after if not right when I get it.

Headers/Cat Back Dual
CAI
Shocks/Struts/Lowering Springs/BallJoints
Body Mods
--Possibly a 6-8 PSi blower setup....

Now my question is about tuning. If I have a friend with a dyno and A/F meters, etc. Is there any chip/programmer that will allow this friend to tune my car for all the addons that I am looking at? I hate to have to take it some place and pay them alot to do this, when he is capible.

Thanks,
Josh

The only reason that I can think of NOT to order yourself an '07 would be that if you're willing to look for what you want and buy from Dealer Stock you can save "Beau Coup Buck$".

`06 V6's are stacking up on lots all over the country right now and they will probably be discounted soon. Heavily in some areas.

If you're willing to travel, I'll bet that you can find exactly what your want - - - - somewhere.

See thats the thing, I WANT the car to be exactly like i build on fords website, I don't want to settle for something else..... I might look into this.

What about the tuning issue.....?

One other thing to consider is that Ford may be replacing the 4.0 soon with a new 3.5L V6. It's going to make more power and will be more efficient for sure. I'm not sure if it will be as mod friendly as the 4.0 is though. The 3.5 may not be in the Mustang until '08 though. If you don't want to wait that long, the 4.0 is definitely a great motor to work with. You won't regret it either way.

I bought an '06 Southern California Special in January. I've had no problems and the performance is very satisfactory. It has a V6 and auto. My only plans are to make the shifting a little firmer on my automatic.

Add an X-cal 2 to your list... you'll need it for the intake, and any other mods you do in the future.

I say, go for the '07... the aftermarket for the 4.0L is really beginning to yawn and stretch itself awake... there will be a lot more available when you get your ride.

Unlike many other cars, there's a lot of emotion behind buying a Mustang. It pays to be patient and wait for exactly what you want.

I have an 05 and love it. The 07s, however, will have some additional options including factory satellite radio.
The stereos also come with a plug to hook up your ipod. If you care about those things, I would order.

I was holding out for a shelby to be my first mustang but since thats not gonna happen I too am thinking about buying a 2007 V6 for the wifes DD and waiting till 2008 for the toy car. She wants the windveil blue and It just doesnt seem to make any sense from insurance, gas etc to got GT instead of V6 for her car. I still think it has plenty of performance to keep her happy though.
