I want to get some HIDs for my headlights (and most likely foglights). My only problem is that my car (being from Canada) has factory DRLs (daytime running lights). Does anyone know how to permanently disable the system (preferably without cutting any wires or having the e-brake up one click)
Also, places like AM have HID sets for like $200, where as e-bay you can get them for like $100 shipped. What is the real difference between these?? Should I spend the extra money or is it really not worth it?

Thanks

Most of the Ebay HID's are plug and play, no splicing required, and they have Low beams only, but if you go Fogs too you won't need High beams, just angle your fogs up a bit. The other types require some splicing and grounding out for high beams. For somthing like head light bulbs I would go the 48 dollar route from Ebay,"not from China," cheap to replace at the end. I think if your gonna pay 200 dollars you might as well go the Halo route. Just my 2 cents worth.

HID Kits, BMW Aftermarket Bumpers & Lighting, DEPO - DDM Tuning

This is what I have on my car (9007 bulb, 6000k temp). They look awesome, were cheap, and I've had absolutely no problems. The ballasts are really small too. I have 3 or 4 friends with the same kit, and they all love them too. For $30, you can't beat it, and it really is a quality kit.

There is an electrical connector that is responsible for the DRLs. You can simply disconnect the connector and that will solely disable the DRLs. I'll have to look at which connector it is, but it's behind the front bumper on the drivers side.

You guys ever have an issue with the lights going out? A friend of mine had this issue where he'd notice he was only driving with one head light. Then he'd pull over, get out the car and tap the light until it turned on. That's pretty much the only thing stopping me from purchasing an HID kit
