I want to run a catted X-pipe but not sure what kinda of headers. Many have told me it isn't worth it to change out to another shorty header. I haven't heard much about long tubes though. Any real power to be had by a mostly stock 01 GT?Problems with heater soak??? I plan on a SC later down the line. I want something coated too so it will look half way different in a few years.

Xpipe- anyone better than the other?? I want cats due to smog laws here in AZ. Some have told me MAC and SLP are the better to choose from.

I want to start putting this together so I need some guys who have all this stuff and have an honest opinion. Tired "I HEARD THIS BUT I REALLY DONT KNOW" type of answers like i posted above. I don't want to buy a stock replacement x-pipe only to want to put on long tubes.

thanks for all the info guys.

Have Hedman long tube, with a MAC Pro-chamber and Magnaflow cat-back. Sounds great, deep not too loud until you really step into it and run the rpm up over 2500. Not "raspy" (like an old truck with glasspacks) at all.I kinda want to be a bit louder so i just ordered some Magnapack mufflers that i'm going to try. I had to modify my pro-chamber to fit the long-tubes cause they're version is only supposed to work with the MAC headers. I knew i was going to have to modify it anyways so i figured it'd be easy for the exhaust shop to work with the longer pipes of the "shorty header" mid-pipe. If you're going to do headers, then spend the money on long tubes. You may not notice much gain now but they will definately help with the SC.

MAC doesnt make an X-pipe than I am aware off.

IMO good brands to go with for an X are bassani, magnaflow and SLP. I had the bassani catted x on mine for a while. Good fit and quality. Later swapped to an o/r H for the sound.

If your running flows, you may want to consider the MRT catted H. It's SS and I've heard good things. An H pipe would probably sound better with the flows, but my bassani X did sound pretty good with my flows.

the very first mod i did on this car was mac LT's & a prochamber (stock cat-back). i picked up 19rwhp on a MUSTANG dyno. it would have been 23ish rwhp on a dynojet. very good gain, imo

now if you want the ease of dropping the tranny; a header like hooker would suit you well. you can drop the tranny with th emacs in place, but it's not an easy process.

After having many many exhaust setups, I finally am happy with my current setup. I've had just about everything on my car, stock, stock w/ o/r x, o/r x flows, lt's o/r h slps, had poweflos, lm1's and lm 2's, also had magnaflows for like 2 hours. I'm finally happy w/ my BBK lt's, BBk o/r h, and bassani C/B. The thing just sounds downright nasty, it gives me goosebumps everytime I rev it up. As far as performance goes, besides the gears, the LT's were the only mod I actually could feel a difference with, pulls much harder up top!! I'm sure if I got a tune the car would really rip...
