on a 302 why would all the lifters on the pass side of the car be mushy ( you can push them down easy like no oil in them) and on the drivers side they are all stiff like all pumped up....i just noticed this as i was adjusting valves....doesnt seem right........need imput......

did you just put the engine back together?? if so, what did you do??

new lifters may be "mushy" because the oil has not pumped them up yet.

when you adjust the valves you tighten the rockers until you get some resistance while twisting/spinning the pushrods then go about 1/2 - 1 turn or torque to specs within 1 turn (depends on type of rockers)

i got about 3000 miles on it, its just loud..ticking..so i adjusted the rockers using ed curtis method....the weird thing is that on the pass side of the car i was able to do the 3/4 past 0 lash with my fingers, and on the drivers side i had to use a wrench..and now that they are all adjusted the ones on the pass side you can push the rockers down to make the lifters compress, and on the drivers side they feel solid and dont compress by pushing on the rocker arm....to weird.....im calling dss on monday to see what they say...just seems weird that one side of the engine would be like this and the other isnt. almost like one of the oil vally plugs came out in the timing cover area? if thats posible.
