I removed cylinder heads from a 1977 460 that I plan on putting in my fox body notch!!!! This engine has a little over 10k on it since its rebuild in 1993!!! I just drove the truck home on friday and removed engine!! It ran well with no smoke ,no noises ect... When we inspected cylinder walls last night I noticed there were some scuffs on the thrust sides on cylinder !! Heavier on first 2 cylinders and on the intake side!!! All the cylinders had scuffs but definately got lighter after front 2 cylinders , you cant feel them with your nail ,but the rest of cylinder has cross hatch and on the worst cylinder it rubbed the cross hatch away about an inch wide!!! What do you think dirt??? Should I run it ??? It is .030 over as indicated by piston tops!!!!!thanx

A 460 can take a .060" overbore without any concerns.

I woudl suggest you visit a forum I foudn once dedicated to the 429/460. A lot of knowledgeable guys and they are all very helpful. I don't remember the link, but I think it was 385 Heaven of something like that. I'll try to find it and post it here.

EDIT: Found it. http://users.boardnation.com/~katmandu/index.php

good luck with your swap, i know what your up against. Just make sure to set up that short block for whatever you plan on adding later, blower, N2O, etc. I think mines a little high comp for a blower but i could just add some mid 70's heads with the 90cc chambers to lower it. Those 78 heads should do well with a good valve job, port, polish, and some bowl work. And its loads of fun to drive
