This is a guy revving a rotary engine in an old rx-7......i bet there wasnt even anything wrong with the engine......but he revs it to 9k for 5 minutes.........if i were you i'd skip to about 4 minutes, then watch the rest.....

well i guess he did have a reason...haha.....


in my grandparents backyard there is an 86 mazda RX-6.....i would like to fix it up and drive it.....the front end is all smashed in..i started takin stuff off of it about a year ago but stopped...maybe i will start up tha project again...those things have a really short throw on the shifter......and the sound system is amazing for stock.....it would be a nice daily driver...neways.....


why did he blow it up?.....it just caught his bumper on fire...haha...

I am sad to see him do that to what could be a nice car, but it has a new motor waiting for it so all is forgiven. I was looking for an old RX7 to buy before I stumbled onto the Fox scene...and i've never looked back.

Yea ok so he blew the motor BUT I bet he didn't expect to have to buy another aftermarket bumper...should have thought that one through, it would have been fun to see the whole car go up in flames like he deserved (no offense GTSETO or whatever your name is )

I bought a 1990 RX-7 when I got pissed off at my 5.0 (which I still own). The RX-7 is fun, but slow. The handling is also pretty unforgiving..it takes skill to drive it well. If you can find one real cheap, go for it. But don't keep it for too long; it is a rotary after all.

I wouldnt mind owning one, but I have been so turned off because of the people at the track with them. 50 of them pile into a small pickup, and put the rotary on a single axle snowmobile trailer (sometimes sideways on the trailer). They then get there, get the car prepped by reving the engine to 15,000 RPM usually for 30-40 mins straight. Then they get to the actual racing. Try a few times to do a burnout, finally get something they are happy with. There is always someone lining them up in the groove and the 48 other people are out there hooting and holering. Take forever to stage usually winding them up till they backfire 20-30 times before actually staging. Then they stage, bang them off a rev limiter, and make it to about the 60' mark. Then its back in the pits to diagnose the problem, obviousely by putting the engine at 15,000 RPM for another half hour.

To me it does NOT look like fun, but thats just me!

Something tells me that you've been to Englishtown and encountered the vato rotary lovers. Revvin the engine to it overheats and then wondering why its busted. 20 guys jockin the nuts of the driver, dressed like they are goin to the night club.

I have been to Etown, but usually go there for Ford and Mustang only races. I see this at LVD, more than anywhere else (the track I go to if Im not going for an event). My guess is these people are everywhere!
