Those of you installing hood pins...

I did it tonight for the first time by myself after work. Took a total of 3 hours. (Taking my time and jammin to a local rock station) Everything came out beautifully. I have pin style in the front and locking at the back. I know 4 hood pins looks gay but I couldn't really afford to spend a lot on hood. But anyway. Used toothpaste on factory hood bumper/stoppers and pulled those out. Threw together my MrGasket pins and did another check on the accurcy of the pin-to-hood drilling location. Then I drilled away using progressively wider drill bits. Did just about the same thing for the back.

What did everybody else do with back hood pins? I just put the bolt through the hinge for the old hood in the FIRST hole (closer to windshield) then I'm going to shorten the hinge to only what I need. I know it's a rig but I have an idea in the making using a spring on the hinge to keep the hood down better. Really is workin out nice.

Where does everybody with GT bumpers run the lanyards? I'm getting the cobra grille insert to run it through. But until then does it go "flush" anywhere?

I remember seeing some hood pins made by a company that had short springs and a rubber pad on them that you used to prevent hood bounce at speed like the rubber stops do. You adjusted the spring and rubber seat so it supported the hood while the clip secured it from the top. These would be nice, but I could not find them when I did mine.

I pup the pins beside the rubber stops.

I know it sounds a little dumb but how do you mark for pins if you do't want to use the stock hood bumpers? Thinking about getting some when I gat some mods but I am unsure on how it is done.

I take it you mean don't want to use the stock bumpers??? Put some white grease or something similar on the top of the bumpers, lay your hood down until it touches the bumpers, then raise the hood and see where the grease is, drill a pilot hole in the center of the grease and progressively get a bigger bit, remove the bumpers and install pins in their location. You can use a piece of heater hose or a/c hose around the dowel part of the hood pin as a "new bumper".

Thanks but what I ment was that if you wanted to keep the hood bumpers in use. Sorry I wasn't clear on that.

You can look at the install pictures on mine to see where I put them. I used pieces of tape and string to find where to put the pins. I drilled a hole in the rad support for the pins, then drilled 3 holes in a line in the back of the support, then a dremel tool to make a hole big enough for a open end wrench to go in to tighten the bottom nut.
