i did some searches without any hits.

im looking to get an oil temp gauge for my car, i inquired about one before and got some information from michael yount about the sending units. some of them go inside the pan, ect and sounded like a real pain. he also made mention of some that work as the drain plug in the pan too, i could never find these.

im wondering if anyone can chime in with how they set theirs up, or where to find these drain plug style sending units possibly.

thanks for the input

I have mine installed in a canton pan which has a bung welded in. Maybe Michael Yount was refering to an adapter that has the same threads as the drain plug on the outside and the same threads as the sender on the inside? If you could find an adapter with the right threads, it would work.

yeah that may have been it. it was a thread from awhile back, so i probably left out some of the details of it.

im just looking to put another two gauges in my car, and the oil temp was the most useful to team with it so my interest was brought back in it.

maybe to try and keep it simple for now, is anyone with a stock pan running this?

Subscribing to see what the outcome is...Volvo had a dealer installed optional oil temp. gauge for their turbocharged cars which had a sender that replaced the oil pan drain plug.

that is what im hoping exists somewhere for my oil pan.

i ran a search on the corral also and only saw people talking about tapping/welding fittings into oil pans. that isint something im willing to do at this point. i am just putting a 2 gauge pod in my car and was going to use this as the second to fill the space.

too much work and it isint worth it, as i dont see any pressure issues, no high rpm running, no excessive conditions. would just be nice to monitor the temp also.

anyone using this gauge with a stock pan or setup simply please chime in.
