i didnt...i set it so that it wouldnt pop the pinion off the ring when i went into reverse...no whine, no clunking..works fine for me...

Dont mess with it. Leave the spacer thats there on the pinion...and the 2 spacers thats on either side of the pumkin to keep it lined up, switch them out. As in put the right one on the left and visa versa. Works PERFECTLY for me.

I agree, I watched Rick @ Amazon Racing switch out mine and he said the key was putting the old spacers on the new gears so they didn't make any noise.

Thanks all. I was just curious as to what everyone else had there's set at. Mine are now in and there is no whine or thump. Backlash is set at 10.
