Those with Baer 13" rear brakes...help!

Those of you who bought the kit, how was the fitment for you? I put the caliper over the rotor without pads, and it seemed to fit fine, as far as the bracket adjusting the caliper to the right spot. But with pads, it screws everything up.

Maybe the piston is out a little and causing the inner pad to not seat all the way in. If this is the case, how can I get the piston to move back in?

Any other thoughts about what I could be doing wrong?

Also, do I have to use the anti-rattle clips or can I install the new pads without them?

fyi: using Hawk pads

Thanks
Dave

you gotta screw the piston in with a special tool or needle nose pliers. i just bought the kit with hawk pads yesterday and am very curious how this goes.

Yeah I overlooked a small note they included in the directions that says you might need to screw in the caliper piston.

I'm tired so I'll go to the store tomorrow and borrow the tool and finish tomorrow night.

But I still need to know if I have to use the anti-rattle clips when I install the new pads? Anyone?

I'll write up my opinion on the kit with pics when I finish tomorrow, hopefully.

If the tool your talking about to turn the piston in is the little cheap square thing with different numbers of probgs on each face of it, I've found that when using that tool there is one face of it that has four prongs on it that a person would want to use only it doesn't work until you grind off two of the prongs that a diagonal from each other. After those are removed the tool seems to work much better.

FWIW- when I helped a bud install the baer kit on his 00gt, the banjo bolt for the bake line was total crap. The bolt/gasket would not seal tight and when we put very little press. on the bolt to get it to stop leaking it broke in half. The bolt is brass (if I recall) and broke at the fluid hole. We ended up going to a dealer with the caliper and sorted threw the several diff. kinds of banjo bolts for that year to get one close. The one we got had a nipple on the end and we just ground it down as there was no fluid hole in it/only got in the way. The factory one was steel and not as soft as the baer bolt.

Great kit though, it stops great and looks awsome.

can one of you guys take a picture of your rear 13" brakes. I was just going to get cobra brakes for the back but this kit actually might be cheaper and the rotors would match the front baer kit im getting. I just want to see if it looks weird with 13" rotors in the back with the little calipers, thanks guys
