those with fuel pressure gauges,where and how to mount it?

i had bought one along with the volt,water temp and oil pressure but i took it back when i read that you are not supposed to mount them inside the car.then while looking at some pix of some gauge setups,i saw that a few of you have them mounted inside and some outside on the cowl.how you get away with it in the car and how are they mounted outside?i mean what bracket was used for the mount outside?

You can get electric or mechanical. The mechanical needs to be mounted outside the car because fuel runs through it. The electrical doesnt have any fuel in the car so you can put it inside the car.

you can run a mechanical inside your car but you need to run an isolator. it replaces the fuel at the firewall with another fluid.

i have a fuel pressure gauge that i mount on the fuel rail but i only put it on to test the fuel pressure then removed. i dont feel safe leaving it attached.

electric is the way to go but there pricey

some people run there mechanical on the cowl. i wouldnt mind putting mine there but i would be afraid of someone jacking it while im away from the car LOL

well i got the ford racing ones from summit,they're made by autometer.i guess i'll have to look into an isolator if i want to run one in the car cuz i dont treally want one outside the car so someone could "jack it".and drakesdad i definatly be at norwalk for fun ford in july other than that,i'll have to pm you when i go.

Hey Opal , Let's def. do Norwalk......I have started compiling a list of near by stangers....I'll get with all....I'm still up to go somewhere else too if someone sets it up.....I think I'm getting a electrical one after talking with Vibrant.....feel safer now...

DITTO for me. I have the electrical one and it is pricey but I have the green lit one that matches the stock gauge lighting. I was willing to pay extra chedda because no way no how did I want it sitting on the cowl.

i found isolator's from autometer and mallory at summit.now i just gotta figure out which one to get.i dont want to go electrical cuz i like the way the ford racing ones look and i want to keep them all the same.drakesdad,we will def do norwalk.maybe we can get some us that are close to go also.and i would be willing to go somewhere else also

haha yea i got a bunch of guages cheap from a ricer going out of buisness sale and none matched the price was phenominal thoguh. i moved the a/c knobs

allright now that you guys helped me on fuel press gauge.now help me with oil pressure gauge.where do i hook it up to get the pressure reading from?do i hook it up to the low oil sensor using a t fitting to keep the low oil sensor or what?man i feel like a retard asking these ?'s but i have looked and searched and have found nothing.i know i need a pressure isolator.im waiting on my billet stuff from upr to come in so i can start putting the dash back together and i'm going to install all the gauges at the same time i install the billet so i can get it all done at one time.

No. You dont use the low oil sensor (on the side of the oil pan). You Tee the new sender with the old one. The stock sender is located above the oil filter.

ya know,after thinkin about it.how the hell would you get a pressure reading from a level sensor?so thanks hissin for pointing me in the right direction.but i do have a ? about this.why do i need the old stock sender if i am not really going to be using the stock oil pressure gauge anymore?couldnt i just put the new one in place of the stocker?

i gheto rigged my mech gauge

i used braided stainless steel line from the shradar valve, routed through my cowl hood and then its tie-wraped to the plastic cowl near the wipers....

it never moves on me and it was pretty much a free install

missed the word low. thought it just said oil sensor. i forgot about those other "oil sensors"

You sure can omit the old sender for the new. Most folks dont want a dead gauge, but it does make it easier to plumb the brass if only using one sender (no tee). The stock fitting is 1.4" NPT IIRC, and most aftermarket gauges use 1/8" NPT, so you will need an adapter to install the aftermarket sender into the stock location.
