Those With Mr Gasket Chrome Water Neck...QUESTIONS

I bought this awhile back while I was "hoarding" parts for my engine swap, so it's too late to return it. I think there are a couple of issues with this and I wanted to clarify them before I install it.

1. The barb does not screw down all the way. I can only get it down to 2 threads remaining..Ive sanded it, wire brushed it, lubed it, etc and no luck. Does yours go all the way down, or is that the way this is?

2. The barb size is smaller than the stock water neck barb. Therefore the bypass hose is TOO big on that part. The opposite side of the hose, that goes on the water pump fits PERFECTLY on the water neck, but that's backwards. I thought about going to HD or D.A.P and buying a new barb that is larger and will thread onto the Mr Gasket.

Does this sound familiar to anyone or did I just get a Junker?

I put mine on about two weeks ago and noticed the same thing as far the bypass neck not screwing all the way in. The first time I started the car, coolant started coming out, so I went and bought a 7/8" deep socket and muscled it down farther. It's still not in all the way, but it does not leak. Just make sure you put some teflon sealant or teflon tape on it.

As far the bypass neck being narrow, I didn't notice a big difference. I just tightened the hose clamp and there's no leaks.

Do you rembember how many threads were left? Also, I was planning on getting a new barb that is threaded for that. It would be brass, but nobody sees that part. How much have you driven the car now with that piece on it?
Thanks
