They had several different versions with different heads and cams which varied the output of the motor.

There's a guy on the Corral making 350ish to the tire on a set of worked iron GT40s, and yet there are countless guys making 250-270 with them... So there's an exception to every rule. 90% of guys who buy this crate motor will never see 300 rwhp.

If it weren't you, I wouldn't accept that without seeing it. However, I would like to know what "worked" means. Are we talking welding involved in the port job? Was the 350 SAE, STD, w/o correction? What has he trapped/ETed? Carbed? Displacement? n/a, I presume? compression and fuel? etc... That's an impressive number, but somehow even though it is you, I highly doubt that example has anything to do with this crate motor.

I'm gonna call BS on Corral guys claims of 350rwhp with worked GT40 heads combo. Unless he's got them bolted to a high compression worked, stroker, or that dyno is totally out to lunch, there's no way he's making that kind of power. Not through iron GT40's...or even aluminum GT40's for that matter.

Guys with the complete Trick Flow top end kits are only pulling down about 320rwhp and the Twist Wedge heads used in that kit are twice the heads iron GT40's are.

That's another reason I question the validity of the FRPP claims. Ford is trying to convince us that with GT40X heads and E303, and carb/intake and LT headers that GT40 crate is only 20hp shy of the Trick Flow top end (rated at 360hp) bolted to a stock short block? Sorry, I can't buy that.

Sorry to revive this old thread, but in regards the specific engine in the OP - when selecting “year/model” for replacement parts and whatnot, what is the most accurate description?? ‘89, ‘91, ‘93, Cobra, GT?

*from my uneducated research, it very closely resembles a ‘93 cobra, but I could be way off.

Talk about revived.....this is an old one.

With an engine like this some things will not cross reference to a specific year make and model.

All your accessories will bolt on...so those will go with the car. This isn't a factory replacement...its more stout and has a bunch of performance parts added. You could use any mustang model with a roller camshaft for that description. I'd stick to 87 to 93 V8 models.

I don't think it matters, i'm pretty sure the only way you can get this engine now is with the boss block, making it cost prohibitive.

true, but I’ve already got the motor in the car. It’s been in since 2012 and I’ve owned it since 2014. I’m finally now able to put my hands on it and start to make it the way I want it
