Hi All,

You will notice a little "Spring Cleaning" ongoing. Do not take offense if a thread has been moved to Talk instead of leaving it in Tech.

The Staff is trying to keep the "What Kind of..." and general untechnical threads confined to talk. Tech is more of your write-up, step-by-step installation and question threads specific to the 4.0L. We will try to read most for answers that are of a technical nature and leave those in tech.

Threads that hedge the line or are more the "What is the best...", "What option...", "What if..", "Where can I get..." regardless of V6 or GT will slowly move on over. Once there you are most welcome to talk about the options.

Thanks everyone. Comments are welcome.

Personally I like having things that are related to the performance of the Mustang but not directly of a technical nature left here. I'd rather not have to read through a ton of "look at my cool paint job/wheels/dashboard thingamabob" threads to find stuff about performance in the main forum.

To me it makes sense to ask which muffler, etc is the best for the performance of my mustang in the tech forum (and where to get it, etc).

I think going overboard on this one is going to make this section of the boards pretty dead.

Just some thoughts.

Yes,

We have discussed this and basically anything that is not 'chat' or 'banter' will be left in this forum.

Thanks for your input!

Cheers

I'm totally confused how asking how to find a dyno shop is not performance related.

Although, getting moved does get the thread twice the exposure, so I'm not sure it's a bad thing overall.

that is a shopping related question, and should be posted in talk. the tech forum is more for the nuts and bolts, technical information. how to install, why does my car do this, etc.

aren't we slicing the meat extra thin here?

its bad enough that we cant post links to non-sponsors/competitors websites here ....

I just want to talk cars [V6 Mustangs in this case]!

engine size does not make any difference when looking for dyno shop. you can post links to non sponsors, just not to other mustang forums. talking cars goes in talk too.

99% of shopping related questions have nothing about tech in them. they only ask for a shop near (insert city here). very rarely do they get into anything tech related. something like DYNO SHOP XYZ has a superior tune because they know how to do (insert something here) better. my car was having this tune problem, and they did this to fix it.

still think thats slicing it thin? i would like to hear more.

OK, here's how I feel about it ...

this site [the 2005+ V6 Tech > ] has had trouble sustaining its daily traffic.

When you are moving 15% - 25% of the V6 related post over to 'Talk' we're going to have even less traffic here.

And in the long run, less traffic equals less V6 posts of all kinds.

.... its just a downward spiral.

we will see what we can do...but i really dont see why some people hate thread moves. even if it goes to talk, it is still S197 related, the redirect is still left behind, and the same people can still reply to the thread. are some people not comfortable posting in talk? i will try to help you out the best i can.

there is another side to the thread moves. if this forum does not get much traffic, then the thread may not get answered. if it can benefit with a thread move, then why not? (totally hypothetical numbers here for example purposes only) lets say there are 500 V6 members here, but 2000 GT members. dont you think that limiting your replies to the 500 members will not produce the best replies in a thread? why not let the combined 2500 take a shot at it? that sounds like the best move for everyone.

like i said, i will work with you guys, and not against. feel free to post up more thoughts. it would be nice to get feedback from may members instead of a select few. dont be shy.

on the other hand, when was the last time a topic has been moved into V6 Tech?

recently and by pure chance, I stumbled onto a guy who mistakenly asked his V6 tech question over on the GT Tech board ...

predictably - and as you might imagine, they weren't kind.

well shooter, guess it does not make much of a difference where the thread stays as long as the thread starter is happy with the results. i guess if it is kinda sorta maybe V6 tech, we can keep it here.

Hey bigcat, I see that you guys are still doing your "house keeping" here .....

but the question still remains, "when was the last time a topic has been moved into V6 Tech"?

no threads have been moved recently. the last was the dyno shop thread in question in this thread. i wont be moving many threads out of here anytime soon, unless it is really out of place.

as far as the last time a thread was move into tech? i could not tell you if any thread was moved to tech--GT or V6. i have not seen it. if you see a thread that should be moved into tech, send me a PM and i will take a look at it.

we are going to be more relaxed on moderating now. too much over-moderating has been happening. hopefully, everyone will get more satisfaction from the forum usage from now on.
