I switched out my throttle body and spacer over the weekend. While doing this I had to take off the coolant lines that run in and out of it. Why are they there? Doesn't cold air add horsepower? and the hot antifreeze warms it up, losing hp, right? Is there anyone that makes a delete kit for this?

there are a couple schools of thought on why the lines run through the EGR. the most accepted is that it is there to warm the TB (de-icing).

IIRC, some guys have looped the two lines together - but i'm not sure on that.

The coolant running through it is actually cooler than the air passing through it, don't worry about them, just leave them hooked up.

Heads, cam and intake, that's where the real power is

The way i heard it was that for the cold states, the coolant passed to keep the TB warm and keep it from sticking.

i have mine by-pased with a brake line. i noticed that coolant was leaking past the gasket and into the motor one time, so i just never hooked it back up again. been like that for years now and never had any problems. you should be able to see the two lines tied together in the pic.
