Throttle Cable Adjustment

Sorry guys, I am getting tired of searching. My gas pedal is almost to the floor because the throttle cable is so stretched out. There is about an inch of slack on the pedal side when it is in park. I tried to find an adjustment on the throttle side but I am not seeing anything.

I am sure this is very easy and has been asked plenty of times, but I would appreciate any help. Thanks,

You could take the cable off of the bracket and put some spacers/washers between the bracket and the cable I guess and use a longer bolt but it might just be easier to order a new cable from 50resto or something. Good luck with it

if it is stretched like that, get a new one. you dont want it to break or catch (when the frayed pieces catch on the sheath, etc).
good luck.

I don't see any frayed edges yet. I was just hoping there was just some kind of adjustment like many aftermarket ones have for a temporary fix. I plan on putting a new engine next year anyways, so I will probally wait and order a new one. Its not my daily driver and i will be storing it this winter anyways.

Thank you both for your help.

it is probably stretched along the entire run - not at one spot. inside the sheath you wont see it.

i do see your point - shimming it might work. i would rather leave it alone until i got a new one, myself.

good luck.

I have had this same problem, the temp fix for this is to get a wall ancor. Inparticular the ones that have a y in the middle (kind of hard to explain). There the cheap ones that arent made to hold alot of weight. Now the hard part, split the ancor on one side with a razor (or whatever) pull gas pedel towards you place the split ancor inbetween the stopper on the cable and pedel. Then button things up with some good old duct tape meaning wrap the tape arround the ancor so it will not come off.

And yes this is mickey mouse but works, I have done this on pervious stangs and never had a problem. You may have to mess around with the ancor to find the right length.

By the way I hope you have smaller hands then me because its in a tight spot. Hope this helps.
