Throttle cable

Doing a 6 cyl to V-8 conversion as most of you know.

One of yall said while back i would need a new throttle cable, I`m guessing all the way from the peddle to the motor, anyone know where i can get one?

Throttle cable? I believe it is a solid metal rod that attaches from your pedal assembly to the carb.

I made one from some local hardware store parts, works lots better than the stock rod did and it's adjustable..

BTW..my local home depot doesnt carry heim joints. Home depot FTL.

I can't find any local stores that carry them, most of them are clueless when you ask

Hum...

So other then the rod I dont need anything else? I thought I had to replace everything from the pedal up...although I dont know where I got that idea.

I know what you mean. You ask them for a hiem joint and they give you this blank stare or think dirty thoughts. Some places call them rod ends. If you have an Osh, they are listed as rod ends on the shelf, not hiem joints. If you do have an Osh near you, go in and be prepaired to be frustrated with the entire fastener section as it is more comprehnsive then the Home Despot but three times the mess.

I have the pedal assembly and throttle rod for sale if you haven't ordered them yet. I can send you pictures this evening once I get home. I switched to the Lokar cable system and no longer need them.

I would but...

The guy is already pulling the parts off the car, I`d hate to do that to him after we made a deal. Question though, whats lokar cable setup? You got me curious on this one.

Did you get hold of Melvin at the link I provided?? If so, tell him Jim sent you the next time you talk to him...if the name puzzles him just mention the guy in Tulsa that stole the '65 fastback that he wants...that might jog his memory.

Melvin is a great guy and knows these cars!!

At Mustang 1, he is very knowledgable too, had me straitened out in about 5 minutes, even stayed on the phone with me while I crawled around under the hood describing my current parts.
