I seem to be having a little problem with my throttle... when my car gets warm the throttle seems to be getting stuck. When I pull up to a stop sometimes the car wont idle below 2000 rpm unless I rev it a little. Even if I drag the rpms down with the gear, as soon as I push in the clutch it revs back up there. This usually isnt a problem until its warmed up a bit. I lubed up the throttle assembly on the engine and it seemed to help with the frequency of it but it is still happening. Do I just need to spray the throttle with some carb cleaner or something?? Its a 98 Cobra and Im taking it on a 3000 mile trip in two weeks--hoping to cure it b4 then. Thanks for any help!!

I can think of two separate issues. One, your cable is sticking in which case you should be able to close it manually. It will need lubricated. Two, your IAC may be bad/need cleaned and/or replaced.

Since it does it when it warms up, I'd lean to a bad IAC because the cable would "stick" all the time.

You can take it off and clean it with brake cleaner and somethings this helps. Most report the problem is solved only temporarily and they need to replace it eventually.

Good luck....
