I am looking at getting a 70mm throttle body for my 2000 GT but do I have to change the plenum too. I read on american muscle that some people have idling problems when they change the plenum. I was looking at getting the edlbrock throttlebody, so i don't have to deal with the TPS sensor. Also do I need to get a cold air intake with the 70mm?

Thanks

People often have problems when they change the TB, be sure and save your stock parts you will want them when you get sick of the idle problems you will have.

I ran a BBK 75mm on my 96 & 01 GT engine with the stock intake. I had no issues with the idle. I used a BBK CAI but with a little shoehorning you can get the stock neck to work. It's a very tight fit.

I thought that the plenum and throttle body mod I got was not
a very good bang for the buck.I really didn't feel alot of difference
but,I did feel a slight difference in throttle responce though.
I think that this is a better appearance mod. Some people in
the past have had idling problems with some brand of plenums
just do your research before you buy.The TPS sensor bolts on
and off and is pretty easy to switch out.The stock rubber tube
does fit over a 75mm throttle body but,is a tight fit though.
Get any CAI that isn't made out of metal/aluminum.
Personally I would just get a drop in K&N air filter instead unless
you want a CAI for appearance/looks.A CAI will gain you minimal
horsepower gains like 1-3 rwhp.

Alright thanks, I was thinking about the throttlebody because it seemed to make a difference on my buddies f150 while driving. It seemed like you said to respond better and thats kinda what I was going for. A K&N filter to replace my stock filter was what I was thinking of doing but I have had a bad experience with K & N in the past with regards to dusting out my engine, that was on my 4x4 though, but I was not offroad.

75 tb & K&N drop in you'll be happy.

Some brands, like the professional products and whoever UPR carries (might be PP too) as well as Granatelli are the usual brands that might cause slight idle issues. Another issue is the fact that some kits don't include new TPS bolts, which were necessary for my Trickflow 75mm TB and Plenum swap as I had to drill the head off of one of the TPS bolts to get it off the stock TB. Also be sure to get gaskets if they are not included with your kit. And yes, the stock tubing is a PITA to fit over a 75mm TB inlet.

Also, you may not necessarily need a new TB and plenum unless you are planning H/C/E/FI for your car in the near future, you will gain more from a CAI/Pullies than a TB/Plenum.

And regardless, it doesn't matter if the piping is plastic like K&N's or Steeda's aluminum. The air doesn't have enough time in the intake to warm up before it goes into the motor. In fact, my Steeda CAI and filter had much lower IAT's than my old K&N/stock piping setup. And, if your debating on fenderwell CAI and live in an area that sees deep standing water, do not get a fenderwell CAI, get a Ram Air Intake instead.
