I installed a 70mm TB and a Trick Flow plenium last week. Since I couldn't get the screws out of the old throttle position sensor I just went and bought a new one. Soon after I get a code PO122 Throttle Pedal Position Sensor A Circuit Low Input. I reset it with the reader and it popped up again. Yesterday I reset it and unplugged the sensor altogether and got the same code. Anyone think it is a bad sensor? Anyone have any CEL problems after a TB/plenium swap?

Did you set the tps voltage after you installed it?

you have to adjust the sensor so that it reads a certain voltage at idle position, otherwise you will throw a code.

How do you adjust it or set the voltage? I brought my old TB to work and had one of our mechanics remove the old sensor for me so I'm going to try and install it later. But if I need to adjust the other one it would help to know how.

if you have a voltage meter i "think" it's the green wire you need to hook it up to, in order to read voltage.

if you just wanna go by ear, you can loosen the tps a little & move it around & see where the car likes it best. the way to tell that is, where the car idles best with the position of the tps hope you understood that

After reading some other posts I guess I should have searched first but it does seem like it wouldn't work. The sensor is just a potentiometer so I don't have an idea why moving it around would work. I guess I'll try it tomorrow.

ANyway I was able to get my old sensor installed and still threw a code so maybe there is some rhyme to the reason. So now I have a new TPS if anybody needs one. Before you PM it's not free.

well by moving the meter around, it actually changes the position of the little lever on the inside of the sensor that attatches to the TB. may not seem like much but it's enough to make a difference in the idle, at least it did on my car

OK...the idle was high when I first installed the TB so I adjusted the set screw a little. It may take some trial and error to get it right. Thnks for the tip.

try disconnecting the battery for like a 1/2 hour and reconnecting it, let the computer reset and see if you get the code again.

Try and loosen the screws on the sensor. Rotate it until the idle drops to about 800rpm. Hold it in place while you tighten the screws. This procedure will keep you from getting a code and gets the voltage down to just under 1v where it needs to be. Some auto parts stores now rent code readers pretty cheap. I rented one from O'Reilly's for free. Most of these will clear the codes. If not, you only need to disconnect the battery for a couple of minutes to clear it. Keep in mind that disconnecting the battery also clears the initial parameters that the computer sets for itself. The car might run a little rough until the computer "finds" itself again. You should never have to adjust the set screw.

I have a code reader and that is how I reset the codes each time. I'm going to work on it tomorrow when I'm off from work. I post what I find. Thanks for the help.

Here is my opinion with this problem...

I tried loosening the TPS and moving it around but the idle didn't change. I removed it and noticed the blade edge from the TB was not manupulating the sensor at all. The sensor tabs were in the wrong position and the TB blade was just moving in between the tabs thus it wasn't making the sensor operate. I positioned the sensor at a 90 degree angle so the TB blade was resting on the tabs and then rotated it to the position it needed to be in to screw it down. I reset the code and have started and stopped 3 times now and no CEL. Before the CEL would light after the second start-up. So you need to make sure the TB blade is resting on the tabs in order for the sensor to operate properly I don't know if the particular TB I installed had a different position for the blade than most but this process seems to have solved my problem.
